Rocco has had diarrhea since last night - mostly watery and some pudding-type. He chewed a pencil Monday night, threw up twice immediately and then had loose stools Tuesday a.m. into Wed. night. Yesterday morning (Thursday), he did an almost normal poop but started with the liquid last night. Went to vet this morning, who said he should be fine, gave me kaopectate-type med and 2 cans Purina EN (GE food). He said it should take 2-3 days to go away. Rocco is acting normal in every other way, but he's been pooping liquid, sometimes every 1/2 hour. I'm freaking out a bit thinking the pencil could be hurting his insides...any input???

can you take him to an ER vet. He could get dehydrated going so often. Do you think the new food the vet gave you may be upsetting his tummy? I hope he gets better soon.

Did your vet take xrays to rule out any pieces of the pencil being in his digestive tract?

Does his tummy look bloated at all? Is he drinking and eating normally?

I already called his regular vet again, and he said if he's drinking and eating (he is), I may just have to wait out the diarrhea. I checked him gums and eyes, he doesn't show signs of dehydration. He is still his regular playful self too...just the very loose/watery stools.

He did not take an x-ray, stating that it's not necessary at this point given his overall wellness otherwise. He also said that an x-ray may not show anything at all if really small.

I've been checking his belly since Monday; it's not distended, is palpable and not painful when I touch it. The vet confirmed same yesterday and was not concerned.

I would try something bland like boiled chicken and rice. That helped me the most when Taycie was sick. I wonder if the food is causing diaherra.

i would just follow what the vet has told told. my little one ate glass 15 days ago and she is fine(she had an xray but didnt show up and because she was being her usual self they left it to pass on it own and it did) i just followed everything the told me to, they know best!

Thank you for the advice. I did follow the vet's directions and was as patient as I could stand to be. Rocco is doing great now

!! It took until Sunday night, but he is finally finished with the diarrhea. What a scare.

Yay! I give mine canned pumpkin, seems to head it off quickly. (for next time maybe)
