Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Well, you kind of answered yourself in the posting that spelled out the procedure. It's a vet who is giving the Sub Q fluids and not a breeder. They are the ones who can most accurately diagnosis the level of dehydration and guage the appropriate amount of fluids to give.

| Yes I saw that but was told you could buy little circular tabs to inject sub if needed. Oh well.. I'll just leave it to the vet. Was just curious to know about and whether anyone used them. I am worried about the fading puppy thing and just want to make sure I can have everything possible on hand before next year :-) Making a "medicine cabinet" of sorts in my nursery. I have a great list so far, just came across this when reading about tube feeding. I have only heard positives before reading the negative about it in the article. Articles are a dime a dozen I guess. |

| I read the procedure. There is most definitely a problem with giving too many fluids sq continuously. Subcutaneous Fluids in Dogs Initially treating fading puppies and kittens - Veterinary Medicine IMO, there are a lot of vets that would say not to give a hypertonic dextrose solution SQ. You definitely will be able to find what you need online, but it's just so much safer to have your vet prescribe it. Then they will give you the fluids that they want you to use.
