				 | Keep An Eye on Your Yorkie at Parties! Since we try to take Yoda everywhere we go, it was natural for us to take him to a dinner party my parent's friends were throwing. Of course, since we are the "younger ones," nobody listens to us when we tell them to NOT FEED Yoda ANYTHING! So the main course was beef and ham, both very salty foods. Yoda was fine, laying right next to us as we ate on the couch, but he quietly slipped away when we were not looking. While engrossed in conversation, we didn't notice Yoda was gone for a few minutes. By that time, we knew he was begging someone for food. And that darn Yoda is just too cute when he begs, he looks at you with his best pathetic face, and paws at your legs/knees for something, anything (even when he's full!). Despite our earlier warnings, someone caved in and gave him some meat, probably too much as well. I was later told that the lady said that, "Oh our dog eats anything, it'll be okay for him." UGH! I respect my elders and all, but that just ticks me off! When Yoda came back to us, he drank a LOT of water, and we could tell he'd been given too much salty foods. Thus, though he is potty trained, he later couldn't hold it and peed on their carpet, which embarassed us quite a bit (luckily, the condo owners were nice and didn't mind it at all). In retrospect, it was probably my fault I didn't notice his signs he wanted to pee, but we did take him out to pee about 30 minutes prior. But that's not the last of it, because for THREE DAYS afterwards, Yoda had trouble pooping. He had diarrhea, and he would wake us up maybe 4-5 times a night to want to go poopy, but he just couldn't do it. He would squat and push and push and push, but nothing would come out, and he'd look all sad and come back in. Yoda sometimes doesn't chew his food all that well, and I would have thought that he was only give meat, but perhaps he had something hard to eat as well. So the poor guy had something stuck in his stomach which he couldn't poop out for three days! We felt so sorry for him, but we couldn't do anything about it. He FINALLY was able to push it out one night, and it was a big clump of something. But at last he was okay and all is well. Interestingly enough, he was okay during the day for the most part, and he only tried to poop it out at nights. So moral of the story is to please keep a close eye out for your Yorkies when people are over or when you bring them somewhere. We're going to be bringing his car seat with us when we go to dinner parties with Yoda and we're going to feed him first, then strap him to the cushioned car seat and place him near us, thus making SURE no one else feeds him anything. If someone feeds your Yorkie something unapproved by you, YOU or your Yorkie may be paying for it later on! |

				 | I understand you completely! My parents learned the hard way not to give my baby food. They gave him a huge steak bone to chew on one night when I wasn't around and he had diahhrea for 2 days after that! Poor thing couldn't even control it and would go in his carseat, in the house, everywhere! Now, they don't give him anything. Thank God!

				 | isnt it frustrating???!!! my brother (whom i dont like very much because hes a lazy bum) tried to feed toby on SEVERAL occasions, and last thursday he was holding toby 6 feet in teh air and dropping him on the couch!!! And to make matters worse, his stupid a$$ fiance (whom i dont like either..... major animocity here..lol. if you want to here the story with that biatch pm me ) anyways, his fiance was saying "drop him closer to the edge i want to see him roll off when you drop him".. poor toby was trying frantically to get away, all i had to say was "STOP!" and he stopped because he knows i can win in a word argument (his brain is fried having smoked too much pot in his day, oh and did i mention he just got his first job ever!!!!! did i also mention HES 30 YRS OLD!!!!!!!!) and geez ive been working since i was 15.......... anyways, yes i knnow exactly how you feel i watch toby VERY closely, but i cant always stay on him the whole time and during these times my brother and his fiance magically get ahold of him and start torturing the poor animal..... I have to say though, my parent are pretty good about not feeding him, they are very gentle.... but man, i just want to kill my brother, it is totally ovbious you cant choose your family, because if i had a choice he wouldnt be in it |

				 | OMG! I am so sorry to hear about what happened to Yoda and Toby! I would be so mad if anyone gave my Frankie people food or held him up like that. I also know how you feel when your pup gets constipated. My Frankie gets a bit constipated quite often. Think I'll do a search to see if there's anything I can do about that... |

				 | Ugh! I totally understand your frustration. When my mother was here this summer I told her exactly what Sandy could and could NOT eat. Sure enough, she fed my already overweight baby roast beef and potatoes. The poo cleaning the next few days was NOT fun!! Sorry you had a rough time, but I'm really glad the Condo owners were so understanding!

				 | You know how they have those signs "Please Don't Feed The Bears"? Well, Im thinking we all might wanna make cute little signs for our Yorkie's to wear that says "Please Don't Feed Me", and let them wear it when out around other people. That is so sad that our little Yorkies have to suffer just because other's can't take a second to ask permission to give a treat to "OUR" Yorkies. It's a shame that they do not understand such problems can and mostly occur when our little one's eat what they shouldn't.

				 | My husband is the major 'cheater' in this house....He has FOREVER spoiled all of our dogs.....giving them a bit or bite of EVERYTHING he eats..(which can be alot and often).....He has had them so conditioned that when he stood up and just walked to the kitchen everybody (dogs) would jump up from a sound sleep and follow him around.....totally disappointed if he was just putting something in the trash.... This will quickly explain how our lost Oscar ended up weighing 13 pounds!!!! So now, with the tiny new Lil Bit (1 # 11 oz)....I have told him firmly..."no bites for her.....I mean it!!!". But I know he is doing it...he has been working out of town during the week and home on weekends since I got LilBit...she does fine during the week but on weekends she Always gets loose poops and won't eat her dog food as well......Last night as I turned the water off in the shower I heard a spoon hitting a dog bowl...I yelled out..."what are you doing???"...he repied.."I can't tell"....He fed her "just a tiny bit of ice cream".. UGH!!!!!!!!! now, when he stands up and walks to the kitchen, the greyhound, the chihuahua and Lil Bit all follow him!!!!!! He'll be leaving in the am...... |

				 | FastEddie, the same thing happened to us, only Otis was lucky enough to barf it out. We were at a party and someone said, "Your dog is barfing," and I looked down at Otis. He was in the process of barfing up a piece of ham the size of a large man's hand. I said, "Who gave him that?" I was furious. The guy who gave it to him always feeds their big dog anything....(in fact, when they order take-out, they order him a plate too. How disgusting is that?) Their dog is so unhealthy and overweight, they just don't understand how sensitive a small dog's stomach can be. In fact, here's a pix of their dog and Otis. Keep in mind Otis is SUPER fluffy because I haven't shaved him since October. Last edited by admin; 02-28-2005 at 10:34 PM. |

				 | Superfluffy is cute! Wow, that is one overweight dog. I haven't really seen a fat dog in person like that. Although I'm sure the bigger dog's stomach can handle it a lot better, it can't be good long-term to eat such greasy oily foods. Some people just have no common sense, I think! |

				 | Wow it's annoying when people don't respect our babies - they think they're toys or something. When Bubbles got sick he ahd to have a special diet, so any other food was bad for him. We constantly had fellow dog owners saying 'Oh it's ok we give ours everything'. It used to make me so mad. In the end I'd just have Bubbles in my arms for the whole time because I'd be so scared someone would drop him something. |

				 | That IS one overweight dog Otis, but I'll tell you no dog has amazed me with their fatness more than Pi, a cocker spaniel that comes in every two weeks to be groomed at my shop. It takes two of us to lift this COCKER SPANIEL into the tub, onto the grooming table, off the table, etc. He weighs more than one of the hound dogs we see weekly! This dog's owner is a DOCTOR as well. Makes me sick. Apparently before their dog had a stroke (hmm, wonder why?!) they would take him to Krystal's everytime he got groomed and buy him a whole sackful of Krystals. OK, Krystals makes ME feel sick to my stomach, imagine for a dog! No wonder this dog is so fat! People just don't understand that dogs don't need to eat people food PERIOD!
