Senior Yorkie Talker | Do Dogs catch colds?? My Yorkie sounds like she's sneezing...she keeps making air go out her nose suddenly and frequently. Does that mean she has some sort of cold? Season has changed, weather is getting colder, it's now fall and everyone in general is starting to get sick so is there a possibility she's getting sick too?

| Yes dogs can get colds that is why it is important to keep them dry when it is cold and wet outside. I would take her to the vet as soon as possible especially because she is so little. |

| Sophie Kate has pneumonia when I got her, I thought it was a cold at first but her to Vet did a chest x ray after she listened to her lungs and confirmed I had a very sick little girl. Like the previous poster said please make sure they stay warm and dry. Even now after two years Sophie Kate is always dried off after a walk when it is raining and she wears a sweater whenever she goes outside during the late Fall and all Winter.

| Catching cold BIG YES, if you even think your baby might have a cold, go to your vet. When Sprocket first came to us he had lived in an area that was atleast 20-30 degrees hotter than it was here with us, I was unaware about little dogs AND Sprocket caught cold. Well multiple trips to the vet and meds and $$$$$ and chewed out by the vet, like SofieKates' and keokismom keep them dry. Also, my vet said "if you wear a sweater/coat, so does he" end quote. And I've kinda lived by that, my neighbors think I'm the crazy dog lady but I don't have to pay the awful vet bill and my baby isn't sick w/cold either. Trust your instincts nobody knows your dog like you do, knowledge is good, but a good vet is priceless. Of course this is my point of view, I freely admit I know very little about dogs so I always come here to YT for info, digest it, then go to my vet w/a list of questions, I think she dreds me coming in ! Hopefully it's just sneezes and will just pass.
