| I think it can be either ringworm or yeast infection. Either way, I would take her to the doctor asap so she can get tested. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Licking/chewing of paws is usually a sign of allergies. What is her age, and when did this start? Did the start of it coincide w/ any food changes? Or, did it coincide w/ the pollen season? Paws have a big blood supply, so it's important to deal with the cause of this...and to get relief from the symptom. Otherwise, the paws can get infected. Has she seen the vet for this? For allergies, a Vet Derm can be a lifesaver !

| I agree, it could be allergies. Did you spread fertilizer or any chemical on your lawn? How long has your baby been chewing? |

YT Addict | All I can say is "ALLERGIES!!!"Coco has severe allergies and bites at her paws daily. You can go to the vet and maybe he/she could give you something for her. Also, we give Coco some equate allergy pills. Equate is the Wal-Mart "off-brand." We put them in a hot dog and she gobbles it right up! Also, you can buy some anti-itch spray at almost any pet store, and spray it on her paws and that can help her itchy-ness. You might also want to change her diet, she could be allergic to an ingredient in her food. I hope you will find what it is, I wish you the best of luck!!!

What about some relief of the histamine response...did the vet suggest OTC anti-histamines or anything? In my opinion, treating 'the paws' is wayyyy too far removed from trying to help with the cause.

| My little guy has severe allergies and bites his paws and legs horribly. We are on our second month of allergy shots, one of the only treatments for a dog with allergies as bad as his. However, while waiting for the shots to work, we are doing a host of other things, including Zyrtec. He gets one Zyrtec every night before bed and it really helps.
