| HELP-Dawn detergent & fleas Betty Boop has a truck load of fleas while visiting my mom and her dog!! I had no choice but to bring her with me. I really hate to use Capstar because it has to be poisonous in order to kill fleas within 30 minutes. I have Dawn but how do you use it on and around her face and eyes??? I see Those little critters all over her face too. PLEASE HELP! I will be taking her home tomorrow and don't want to take fleas home too

| Oh geez Lila, I can't help with your question. Just wanted to say, I'm so sorry you and Betty Boop are having to go through this. Doesn't make for a pleasant trip at all.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | During. I fill the sink with warm water and soak the pet down. Then lather on the dawn. You need to let it sit on them for at least 5 minutes. That gives you plenty of time to use the flea comb and dunk it back in the soapy water to kill off those fleas, too.

| When you give her a bath start at the highest point of her neck/head that you feel comfortable with and make a ring of lather around her neck with the dish soap...that will stop any fleas from her body that are trying to get to her head. Once you've done that you can use Johnson's Baby Shampoo on her face to remove the flea dirt and eggs but you may have to pick the fleas off of her face or use the flea comb to get them. I did that with my girls and it worked great but it takes a little time. When I did my girls I lathered them up and just kept massaging them from head to toe for a few minutes while searching for and removing fleas...then I rinsed and rinsed until I couldn't feel anymore soap. Oh...shampoo and rinse all the dish soap out before doing her face with the Johnson's...that way there won't be any dish soap left to get in her eyes. Good luck! | I'm caregiving mom this weekend. She has a fox terrier that I take care of. I use frontline plus every month religiously! It is impossible to treat the yard. She lives in the country and has dogs roaming all the time. Her dog goes in and out which is another problem. The dh is rather upset that I took her with me. I had to because he is at the deer lease all weekend!!!! The dog can't feed herself! Ugh!

I have never heard of any ill effects from Capstar. I have used it when I get new pups in that have fleas. There is no way if you have a huge amount of fleas on a dog that you are going to wash them off with anything...Dawn or whatever. The fleas will simply hide in the ears and anus. I always use Advantage on my pups...especially when they are going to be in another yard. I don't have fleas and sometimes will skip it, but I have used it for many many years with no ill effects. I totally don't understand people's resistance to using it. Fleas are awful...not to mention the fact that your dog will get tapeworms if they ingest fleas. UGH

If she has that many fleas crawling on her, you need more than a flea bath. Capstar will kill all the adult fleas instantly before they can lay eggs and infest your home. Fleas only spend 1/4 of their life on the host. Flea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Lady has multiple health issues including diabetes and epilepsy plus she will be 15 in a couple of months. I have never had a problem with Advantage. | |

| I may have painted a far worse picture than intended. I've seen animals that were infested and she is not infested to the point of seeing fleas no matter where you look. I have to look for them but I would say I saw at least 6 that were on the move last night. One flea is one too many. She has scratched all night. I had no choice to be able to go home and get the capstar or anything else for her. The dh will return home today....then I can help her. Even a bath wouldn't have done any good because of not being able to leave. I'll not bring her back here without protection. I have no objection to using Advantage. Just need to pick up some. If capstar kills fleas so fast, it seems like it would be bad her system. How long has it been on the market for it to prove it's safety?

I don't know the answer to that, but I have used it for a few years. Of course, when I say use it, I am talking about occasional use.. I just have never heard of any problems with it.

• CAPSTAR has no labeled side effects. • CAPSTAR can be used along with other flea-control products and medications commonly dispensed by veterinarians, including heartworm preventives, deworming products, shampoos and antibiotics. • CAPSTAR is eliminated from a pet’s system rapidly, which enhances safety and reduces the opportunity for fleas to develop resistance. • You can give CAPSTAR to puppies and kittens as young as 4 weeks old as long as they weigh at least 2 pounds Welcome to the CAPSTAR Homepage - Novartis Animal Health US, Inc. Capstar has a remarkable safety profile. No adverse reactions were reported in controlled studies with exposures up to 10 times the recommended dose. It is safe for pregnant and nursing animals. | I've never used any chemicles on my girls, but after you get the fleas off, here are ways to keep them off that won't harm them since it's all natural. Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia - Ticks, fleas, bees, flies, snakes and other gremlins! And how to deal with them!
