| Denosyl and Marin - For Seniors? I've seen these products mentioned in various places on YT, in association with liver problems. That is why, when I saw them advertised in the "Drs Foster and Smith" catalog, I took notice. Under the Denosyl description it says, "Powerhouse liver support. Ideal for pets taking prescription NSAIDs for arthritis management - and for aging dogs and cats to help support and maintain healthy liver function. Supports healthy levels of glutathione, and antioxidant that is the liver's first line of defense." Marin description says, "Economic support to liver function. For dogs needing liver function support; contain silybin that helps bile flow through the liver, and therefore aids in digestion and absorption of nutrients. Can use with Denosyl for possible better results." Has anyone used one or both of these items for their senior dogs? I am wondering if they might be beneficial for my very senior dogs. Especially since they are all on different drugs. I wouldn't do it without my vet's okay first, though.

| Do your dogs have liver disease? Lady is almost 15 and has been getting Marin for ten years since she takes phenobarbital for seizures which damages the liver. I started giving her Denosyl a few years ago when her liver values were elevated. She has had wonderful results and no side effects. |

| No, none of them have liver disease, but they are on various drugs. I just wonder if they could use the extra support. I've always been told Gracie has a very small liver, though she's never had any problems. I think her ALT has been slightly elevated. I think this is something I am going to discuss with their internist. I try to be proactive with their care.

| Neither supplement would hurt. In fact, long term use of certain drugs can be very hard on the liver and it certainly could use the extra support.
