| Does he just not like it or do I need to rotate? Hey YT Members! I recently switched from Eukanuba to Orijen, Miloh totally loved the switch. Now I seem to notice he doesn't eat his food amount as he used to before. I highly believe I need to rotate but am seeking advice. Miloh used to eat around a handful of kibble, with snacks in between (veggies, fruit, & sometimes meat/chicken). Recently he's only eating 10 kibbles in the morning & a little more in the afternoon. Is he bored or does he just not like the food? All advice is welcome, thanks in advance! |

| Actually, Orijen is a much better food than Eukanuba so they eat less. See, since it is higher quality they don't need to eat as much to fulfill their nutritional requirements. Just as an example....if my great dane were eating Eukanuba she would need to eat around 7-8 cups for her weight. On the food we currently feed (Wellness and Innova), she only need 3-3.5 cups a day.

| Not only does he need less of a higher quality food, it sounds like your pup is at an age where his growth is naturally slowing down. Slower growth or adult = lower food requirements compared to the amount needed for a growing puppy. A 5 pound growing puppy needs a lot more volume than a 5 pound adult. When it comes to the high quality foods, I still shake my head that people look only at the price of the bag and think it is more expensive than the cheap crappy brands. When you take into account that the dog doesn't eat (or need) as much, the bag of the high quality food lasts a lot longer, so the price per day is lower than the crap stuff. It's a win-win.

| Yep...all good advice. A better quality food will equal less food intake. Also, activity level plays a role too. I also find with my three, some days they eat all their kibble and other days one, two, or all three could care less to eat half of their daily amount, which is 1/2 cup per dog per day.

| I think you've gotten excellent advice. I feed Orijen too, and at first, it really did seem like Levi didn't eat nearly enough. But his weight is stable, and he seems to just eat until he's full...sometimes he will just pick at his food all day, sometimes he scarfs his food down, and sometimes I have to entice him to eat just a tiny amount. I guess he just self-regulates...but it worries me too!

| maybe if you cut the treats; give only veggies and fruits; no chicken. i think he's getting enough from the treats that he doesn't want to eat as much food. no need for the chicken. good luck
