Yorkie Yakker | My Chloe has itchy skin and Hot Spots....HELP !!! My little Chole Bowie has very sensitive skin. But i am at my wits end she itches so much and then they turn into little hot spots . I have tried everything except putting her on medication which i am trying to avoid doing. I do have a vitamin on order which i was told works better than Meds. I have tried bathing her more, bathing her less, Hot spot creams does anyone have any ideas on what i can try to help my little one ? I feel so bad for her, i even but her in her little p.j.'s to give her some relief at night. I would prefer natural remedies. Thank you in advance. |

| Sorry Chloe is suffering. What do you feed her? What shampoo/conditioner/other products do you use on her? Have you consulted with your vet about the itching? Could be that Chloe is allergic to something in her food or particular kinds of grass. |

Yorkie Yakker | Well i feed her Royal Canin for Yorkies. I use Vets Best Shampoo and Vets best Hot Spot treatment. These items are supposed to be all natural and help her problem. Prior to using those products i would just use baby shampoo on her. Someone told me to bath her less and someone told me to bath her more..... so dont know ? I have 2 other Yorkies who eat and use the same stuff and they have no problem. But i know every animal id different. |

| I have a Coton-De-Tulear with this problem and I have found that changing her food to a fish and rice brand food has eliminated the problem. I now feed her Wellness salmon and rice. I also use non-allergic shampoo. |

| You really need to take Chloe to your vet and make sure you aren't dealing with a staph infection, mites, etc. Johnson's Baby shampoo is too harsh. It was developed to remove cradle cap in infants. That could have contributed to the problem. Inhaled allergies are much more common that food allergies. Are you using a detergent with perfumes and dyes for her bedding? That can cause an allergic reaction. Even carpet fibers can cause an allergic reaction. Adding fatty acids from fish oil can help boost the immune system. Omega Fatty Acids: Sources, Effects, and Therapeutic Usesin Dogs Chloe may need an antihistamine like Benedryl or Zyrtec to help with her itching, but check with your vet first. |

| Bear is the only one of ours that has this chronic problem and the vet gave him prednisone for a short period of time just to nip it in the bud and then Zyrtek for the long haul, which I buy on my FSA card...LOL But, I remember when I was growing up we had a border collie with hot spots on her tummy and my mom put Sulfodene on them and it cleared them right up, everytime. Do they still make that? I don't recall seeing it lately. Worked like a charm back then.
