| How Much to Feed I'm sure this question has been addressed before but I am a bit confused as to how much food to feed my little Muffin. She is 4 1/2 months old and weighs 3 pounds. I can't free feed her because my older Maltese would woff Muffin's food down in an instant if it was left sitting out. I have been feeding her 3 times per day and at each meal she gets 2 tablespoons of dry Royal Canin with 1/2 teaspoon of Wellness canned puppy food mixed in. She gets fed at 5:30 a.m. (I leave for work at 6:30), again at 11:30 a.m and at 5:30 p.m. If this schedule is okay, at what age do I cut out the lunchtime feeding? Thanks! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Cali is also 4/12 months old and I feed her at 7am, 4 pm and 9:30 pm I would like to get her off the 9:30 feeding but I'm afraid she will go hypoglycemic at night since she did twice when she was younger. I feed her 3/4th of a can of caesars wet dog food (only food she would eat). Sorry I don't have any advice. |

| Good topic! When I first got Wosie at 8 weeks I only fed her twice a day, and she got pretty round, so I cut her portions back a little and she did great. Now just recently at 4 months she has decided she no longer likes her food. I am getting pretty frustrated, and have begun to try different toppings (mashed carrots, low-fat parmesan cheese, wet food) and after the intial novelty wears off, she turns her nose up. I am about to go to the store tomorrow to get a bunch of dry samples to see if I can find something she enjoys, but am afraid that she will have a hard time. My other two were pretty dang fussy, and we had to mix wet and dry and only use special bowls, lol. I free-feed Wosie about a cup of food per day, but she only eats a little over a half of it. She weighs 3.5 pounds, and has a tummy, not thin YET. Good luck! I will be watching this thread to see what others say.
