Brit, does the ASPA plan cover genetic conditions? So many things are determined to be genetic with yorkies - I wouldn't have an insurance that don't cover those. (Not saying the ASPCA policy doesn't - I didn't check it).

PetPlan does! They don't consider anything pre-exsiting unless your dog has it before the insure it. But, serious. I'd just talk to them about it!

Pet Plan looks really good.

The bronze plan is $8000 in vet fees which is all I really want. With a $100 deductible, my monthly premium would be $30.43. That seems pretty decent, right?

Right! I was looking at the Gold Plan because they have more 'options' and it's only $68 if you pay every quarter. In fact, it's better to pay quarterly because there's a $2.50 charge every time you make a payment. So, quarterly it's only an extra $7, if you pay monthly it's and extra $25 a year. I know, kinda misleading, but... If you can save up the $50 or so dollars, you only have to pay every three months!

I would really suggest you call and talk to them. The person I have is Mike and his direct numbers are - 1.610.675.2410 and 1.610.595.3353. Good luck! Mike is really nice. I like talking to him and he's very patient, he'll answer ALL of your questions and if you're like me, you'll have LOTS.

I totally agree. If I did not have Pet PLan, when Muffin almost died from a rabies vaccination, I would have had to pay close to $10,000. I think I ended up paying only about $2000. Worth it!!!!!!!! You never know!!!! I have PET PLAN for both my babies. Now that I know, I would never be without it!!!!

PLEASE tell me what happened with the rabies vac. My Maltese went into shock after his rabies and it was just fortunate that I had hung around the waiting room afterward so he was treated immediately with steroid, oxygen and antihistimine. ( I think. It was years ago) My vet no longer administers rabies to him and I get a special disclaimer on my travel certificate for him.

But Tank is my first Yorkie and I am interested to know what went wrong with Muffin.

Very long story but to cut it down to bare bones, after we returned from a funeral back east (gone for 12 days) we returned to pick up my babies (Cassie and Muffin) both Yorkies 1.5 and 2.5 yrs old...boarded at my Vets. Muffin was the only one that got shots and they were given on the day I came to take them home. That night she started screaming when I petted her. She was afraid to walk into rooms, she wouldn't eat or drink, she stopped eliminating, she started falling to the side and stumbling, then couldn't get up to walk at all and unless I picked her up and carried her, she could only lay in her bed and cry. After taking her back to my Vet she checked her and told me she had become completely blind in the right eye.
This was my rambunctious, curious, little l.5 yr old. She referred me to one of the most prestigious Veterinary Hospitas in the country where they told me she had Yorkie encephalitis and did not have very long to live and would need shots of prednesone for the rest of her short life. They said she would be bind forever in her right eye. Naturally I was beside myself with grief. I refused to accept this, as I knew she was a normal healthy little girl before I left her. Searched day and night and Finally found an amazing magical Holistic Vet and now my baby has entirely recovered and is seeing in her right eye. NO prednisone...never would have been able to afford the months and months of treatment to save her life without PetPlan. That's our story. If you need more details, let me know :-) Namaste :-)
