| Frontline doesn't seem to be working I found fleas on each of my yorkies this past Thursday. I immediately gave them Frontline. However, it is now Monday, and they're still scratching. I combed through their hair to see if there were still any fleas, but found nothing. Any ideas as to why they're still scratching and how to get them to stop? Is it safe to bathe them in Dawn dishwashing soap?

| Frontline didn't work for us, tick-wise. He got, like, over 10 ticks in a month on Frontline and even got Lyme disease. We switched to K9 Advantix and never had any problems since! And yep, I've heard of Dawn dishwashing soap working well!

| Frontline Just as anything else can become immune to things I think fleas and ticks can as well. Everyone in our area uses Frontline and have complained about flea problems on their dogs and cats. However, I use Advantage and don't have a problem. I think because everyone in this general area is only using Frontline (it is also the only product sold here in the county) has a lot to do with them having flea problems. Not that the product is bad but that the fleas are not responding to it. |

| it could possibly be old bites. i would rather have that be the case than fleas. i'm planning on bathing them in dawn dishwashing soap later this evening and rinsing it with their normal shampoo and conditioner so that the dawn soap doesn't dry their skin.

| Dawn works great if you let them set all soaped up for about 5 mins continue lathering them as they sit and make sure you get all the dawn rinsed well. Frontline isnt even sold here at some of the vets offices anymore they say it has been making some babies sick so they wont carry it. If its just fleas you can give a pill called confortis it last 30 days as well.

So most likely if they are scratching and you see no fleas, they are scratching the bites. There are anti-itch sprays that work well. I use Dog Products | Veterinarian's Best: All-Natural Products for your pets' health. the Flea Itch Relief spray on my girl and it works really well for her. If you don't see any fleas I wouldn't use Dawn soap (I'd only use it if there are tons of fleas crawling around), but that's just my opinion. | |

| Frontline did not work for us. Switched to K9 Advantix 2 years ago and never had a flea or tick. Knock on wood-LOL

| I also use K9 Advantix and it works great for us. I would recommend it over Frontline. |

| Yes. The blue orginal or I even think you can use the blue ultra that doesn't have bleaching action in it. We use the original blue dawn that cost about a dollar. Fleas here are horrible, too. Comfortis isn't even working the entire 30 days anymore. We finally used sevin 5% dust in the yard and I put some under the cushions on the couch and love seat. So far so good!

| Call me crazy but I would worry that the Dawn would dry out their skin, creating a vicious cycle of itching. Isn't there something else you could use to soothe their itchy skin? I would call the vet for advice on a skin condioning/moisturizing shampoo. Just my 2 cents. |
