| Eye Allergies? Hi All, Recently, Maxi's left eye has been watering like crazy. He used to get eye boogies (not hard ones though) and now he only gets them in his right eye and the left one just waters and now that water has started staining the hair around his left eye. So I took him to the vet and she said that he has eye allergies and that I should get 12mg benadryl and give him half in the mornign and half at night and that should take care of his allergies. Have any of you had this experience with your babies? I dont know if Im comfortable giving him benadryl so I just wanted to know if any of you have given this to your babies? Any help is greatly appreciated. I feel so bad for my little man. Thanks!! Gabby and Maxi

| I have a Yorkie that also has that problem but his eye( white part) also gets red. He has eye drops for it but also a cream. Forgive me but my computor is upstairs and right now it is hard to go up & down stairs for me or I would give you the names of the meds. He has allergies and has for years but he just came to live with us in January. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | .. My Gezell has eye allergies also. Vet put her on eye drops. She was pregnant at the time or he would of put a mild steriod in eye drops also. He did not say anything about Benadryl. However, I was told to give that to my other doggy to calm him because he gets too excited. Let me know how it works so I can ask my vet.

| Thanks everyone! He left eye was getting red too but not swollen and the vet put this special yellow drops in his eye to make sure it wasnt infected and she said that there was no need to prescribe eye drops but to try the benadryl first and if it didnt go away to bring him back and then maybe he would get the eye drops. I dont know I guess I was looking for a more holistic remedy to this before I tried benadryl.
