Yorkie Yakker | eating grass My 2 1/2 year old yorkie has been getting up 2-3 times a night lately. When I let him out he immediatly starts eating grass. No using the bathroom just eating grass. He stays out for a long time. Any thoughts?

| Some dogs will eat grass when they are feeling sick to their stomach... have you noticed anything else different? not eating? laying around? acting sick in any other way?

Yorkie Yakker | His poop schedule seems to be off a little....but normal consistency. It has been very hot and humid the last week or so... He does not throw up after eating the grass? And he seems to still want to eat....he is kindof a chow hound!

| Bailey eats grass as soon as I put him in the backyard, it bugs me to pieces, I wish he would stop, thank goodness we don't use pesticides!

| Eating Grass Eating grass is natural for dogs. It is assumed that dogs eat grass because their stomach is upset after they eat the grass in the yard they throw up. Actually they get vitamins from the grass but the grass in our yards is bladed and that is what causes them to throw up. Rye, wheat and barley grass is good for them to eat. The blade of the grass of rye, wheat, and barley are different than what is planted in our yard. My friend sells plants for pets and has done a lot of research on this and has the local university animal hospital contacting her to speak regarding the nutrients and the benefits and misconceptions of animals eating grass. |

| Jackson eats grass all the time, LOL. He just loves freshly cut grass in the summertime. He grazes like a cow, so do my dads dogs. There was only 1 time where I could tell his stomach was upset, he was pacing, etc and he ran outside and ate grass the FASTEST I've ever seen him and he had sooo much to make himself throw up whatever was upsetting his stomach {smart!} So I do think some dogs eat it so they can throw up but most just like it.

| Cody is a grass grazer too - drives me nuts. So far he hasn't thrown up -- I guess he just likes it. |

| I hope they eat it just because they like it. Maggie eats it almost every time she goes outside. Worries me a lot. I guess I can quit worrying (for now). If she were a bigger dog, I wouldn't have to mow.

Yorkie Yakker | New development....blood in stool and vomiting bile. Alot of bright red blood. He seems to be tired and not interested in playing. He is drinking water. I got him to eat some boiled chicken with cooked barley. Will see if he keeps it down. Waiting for the vet to call me back.
