| General Consensus on Greenies? I did a search re: Greenies on YT, but all the info is a few years old. Does anyone have updated info on them? Are they still considered not the best treat / potentially dangerous for Yorkies? Or are they okay, but Yorkies still ought to be supervised closely while enjoying them? Indy and I received a free sample of one at the pet store today, but I'm holding off giving it to her. Thank you in advance!

| I gave Greenies to my dog until my vet told me that she personally, had to save her 10 pound shih tzu's live because he choked on a greenies. Apparently they are just the right size that when they are broken in 1/2, it's very easy for that piece to get lodged in a dog's throat. I no longer give me dog's greenies. It's also possible that if you have the smallest size, your dog may be so excited to eat it that she doesn't chew it and it gets stuck in her throat. I've heard several stories about this. I think you are best off not giving it to her.

| Gez, I don't know if they're better now or not. I never used them before they came out with the problems but made sure I didn't afterwards. They just feel like plastic to me. I give my kids Merrick's Flossies, Merrick's Lamb Ears, Merrick Texas Toothpicks to chew on. I think some people give theirs Nylabones but mine never liked them.

| Greenies are a choking hazard and they can also cause intestinal blockages. I give my two Himalayan chews and I used to give them bully sticks and they love both. The bully sticks get stuck in their facial furnishings and the himalayan chews don't.

| My girls all LOVE greenies. I call it yorkie crack. I don't give them a whole or a half however. I have the tinies (smallest size) and take the scissors and cut the greenies into about 6 or 7 little tiny bites so it is like a little piece of chewing gum for them. The new formula is very soft and pliable. The old greenies where hard as rocks and those were hard for them to chew. They LOVE them and it isn't big enough to hurt them if they swallow it. Mine all chew on that tiny little piece until they get it all chewed up. They aren't gulpers or swallow things whole. I always supervise any time they chew on anything. They also like the bullies and the pork hide bones since they are all natural and can be digested. I do not give them anything rawhide as that is really bad for them. |

| Kaji loves greenies too. I haven't bought them for him in a while. I take the same precaution with greenies that I do with all other chews. I only let him have them if I can supervise him.

| I've been back and forth on the whole Greenies debate. I finally decided to let Levi try them under supervision, as one of our chihuahua friends is absolutely obsessed with Greenies. Luckily for me, Levi didn't like it at all. Kind of bit it into pieces, left them on the floor, and walked off. Now I don't feel as if he is missing out on some kind of yummy treat since he didn't seem to like it. If he had shown any real interest in the Greenie, I probably would let him have an occasional one, but only if I was around to watch him closely.

| We do not feed greenies - I've seen them ball up into a big blob of green gook and it scared me. Mine chew nylabones (the flexi type) all the time and we have never had an issue. We take them away when they get small.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i don't give morgan greenies either after reading about the damage they causes with the "old" formula. While in target today i saw similar green dental bones made by Dingo bones and was interested in trying them but didn't get them. has anyone given their dogs these?
