| Well I did it..... I cooked an egg for Precious. I have never ever cooked for a dog before but I read on here somewhere that scrambled or hard boiled were ok. And bcs I wasn't sure I didn't add anything to it. I let it cool, put it in front of her and BAM it disappeared. I may have created a monster!! I like how readily she ate that verses eating some here, eating some there etc with the dry kibble. She loves her Halo but that's what I thought before I saw her LOVE that egg!!! Did I do anything wrong? Is a scrambled egg ok? I figured with the day she had she deserved it

| There is nothing wrong with a scrambled egg, but it wouldn't be nutritionally balanced if it were the ONLY thing you ever fed your dog. They also need other minerals and nutrients that aren't found in eggs .... but nothing in the egg is bad for them. I used to give some to my Maltese (a very picky eater) before I gave her heartworm meds (shouldn't be taken on an empty stomach).

| Thanks. I'd love to learn more about cooking. I hear that rice, boiled chicken and carrots is good also. I wonder if that would be sufficient daily. I'm worried about messing up the poop pattern and making her stools not firm...

I do feed Kaji carrots, tomato, cucumber, scrambled eggs, cheese, and a few other things as an occasional treat.

Egg is fine in moderation. Careful with the yolk. It's high in fat. If you want to homecook, it is best to talk to a veterinary nutritionist. They do phone consults (out of major veterinary hospitals and vet schools). Chicken, rice, and carrots is not balanced either. And if a dog eating homecooked has soft stools, then something is wrong with the diet or it just doesn't agree. Stools should be formed nicely...

| When I cooke scrambled eggs for DH the pups get them too (maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks). DH jokes that he gets "dog food." I think it's hilarious they eat the same thing!! I hate eggs hehe! |
