| Dry Mouth, Gulping? Tonight I noticed that Cooper is gulping and licking his lips quite a bit. It seems that he has dry mouth perhaps. This week i just started him on Leba III so i'm wondering if that's effecting him. He's acting normally, eating, drinking and playing. I was just woken up by Cooper by this gulping. It's almost like he's trying to vomit, but it's more of a gulp. I'm not sure if i should call the emergency vet line. He doesn't seem to be in pain or anything. Anyone?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This could be acid reflux...does it correlate w/ meals (after...even hours?)? So, this is just since the Leba? Did you change food or treats?

| Licking lips can be a sign of nausea.... maybe try a bland diet for a few days and see if his stomach settles down.

| We went to the vet this morning. Cooper had a 103.6 temperature. The vet was shocked because he was acting very normal. His glands were slightly swollen and she believes he has some kind of throat infection. She says that something could have caused his throat to scratch and that became infected. He took a 2 week antibiotic shot and she said he should be better by tonight. She also said I can take his temperature to be sure it went down. Oh boy, I've never done that before.

| I changed nothing. This is the first time Cooper did this. The vet is 99.9% certain it has nothing to do with Leba.

| I want to BUMP my thread - still curious what's going on. Cooper is still licking his lips throughout the night. I don't think he's swallowing or gulping any more. It's almost like he has peanut butter stuck on the roof of his mouth. He'll do it for a few minutes, then fall asleep. An hour or so later I'll wake up to the sound of him licking his lips again. He's otherwise very healthy. He's eating more regularly (6pm instead of 10pm) and drinking and playing normally. NOTHING seems wrong at all. Could it be an allergy to the feather comforter? He's been sleeping in my bed for a while with no issues, but I just can't understand what changed to cause this. He only licks his lips during the night when in bed.
