| constipation problems Hi all... My 3 year old baby is having constipation problems. She just can't get the poo out! It literally gets stuck in her and we have to just pull it out. She'll spend lots of time outside running from place to place in the yard just trying to go and we end up having to intervene. We have not changed her diet at all. Anything I can do for this? Anything I can give her to help her with the constipation? Do I need to take her to the vet?? |

| Canned pumpkin can help. Not pie filling but actual canned pumpkin. Are you sure your little one is sneaking other treats? My by had a few days of upset tummy because my parents were sneaking "naughty" food behind my back.

Constipation can be painfull and certainly is not healthy. If the canned pumpkin does not help I would suggest a trip to the vet. You stated her diet has not changed, perhaps it should. Diet could also be the problem. Your vet is your best resource. | |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i agree. first get her to the vet to make sure nothing is wrong. after that you can try the canned pumpkin. I've never given that so i don't know how much. I usually give fat free plain yogurt instead to my yorkie and it helps her stomach and poops.

| Thanks for all the replies! I actually just found out that my mom had bought new treats from the store, and has found that Baley got sick from them and then a few days later is when she had the constipation problems. So I told her to throw them out. She has had this potty problem a couple of times, and after finding out about the treats, we linked every episode to after she had eaten those treats. So I will monitor her in the next few days and see what happens. If it's still a problem, even after the treats have been thrown away, I will call the vet. |

| Jada had her annual check-up yesterday. I thought her anal glands were full (she had scooted her butt on the floor a couple of times last week) I took a stool sample with us to her check-up. Our vet said her poops were too firm and she was almost constipated. He recommended 1/4 t. of metamucil twice a week. Her fiber intact I thought was good as she gets veggies every day. I would call my vet if I were you and they can tell you what to do. I have used pumpkin in the past too,but you can't find it in our area since the fall pumkin shortage. I hope your little one feels better soon.
