				   | Hey all, Does anyone know an orthopedic vet in the NYC/westchester area? On thursday night I had to rush Lila to the vet because her legs were hurting her. When I got home Thurs night, as usual she jumped up to greet me. She ony jumped up once and fell screaming! She started to shake badly out of fear. She then followed me to my room, and again jumped up to me and fell screaming. This time, she peed on herself. I ran to the vet and they did x-rays, lyme titers, cbc, bmp which were all normal. They gave her rimadyl which is helping. She is walking alittle bit now, but I can tell it still hurts because there are times she wont move and her entire body is shaking/shivering. Her hips are hunched over when she does walk. My vet wants me to wait, but I want to take her to an orthopedic vet asap. Please help! Sessy

				   | There are others who may have this info but haven't seen this yet and I know they will post soon. I'll go look and see what I can find. Just didn't want you to think you were alone. |

				   | I'm not familiar with NYC so if you go to this link you may be able to find the closest one to you. I'm not sure why your vet wanted to wait but some of these offices may want referrals. Good luck. ACVS - Find a Surgeon in Your Area |

				   | AERA in Fairfield, NJ. Dr. Christopher Hunt is the orthopaedic surgeon there. I've used him for 3 knee surgeries on my yorkie and maltese. I couldn't recommend anyone more highly. Good Luck and I hope you get some answers soon.

				   | I highly recommend Animal Medical Center - New York City they have many specialists and are a wonderful institution. Under "Surgery"- you will find information on their Orthopedic Surgery unit... they have four surgeons who are board certified. They are also not quick to recommend surgery if it is not necessary... one of their surgeons diagnosed my dogs LP but said surgery will probably never be necessary.

				   | they really are amazing, glad your friend likes them as well... everyone there is so nice and they are willing to sit and talk with you forever and they will talk to your regular vets about the diagnosis and continuing care and will continue to provide advice to you by phone or email after your visit for as long as you need. And the most important thing I like about them is that they dont push a lot of extra unnecessary stuff like a lot of vets... their most important issue is your pets health, even though they are expensive you can tell money is never a motivating factor for them.

My mentor's little girl broke her leg one year at the National Show and this facility provided excellent care.

				   | Thank you all for your quick replies! I made an appt with the NYC Animal center for this thurs with an orthopedic specialist (the closest appt I could get). Lila is a little better but walking as little as possible (my baby normally follows me everywhere, especially when food is involved and isn't even doing this.)
