| My puppy eats funny... My puppy is 8 wks now and I noticed that when she eats, she walks up to the bowl grabs a piece of kibble and walks off to eat that piece up and does this over and over until she is full. I am currently leaving food out for her 24/7 since she is so young and I don't want to risk any hypoglycemia. She also gets nutra-cal once a day. It seems like she is afraid the kibbles are going to come and attack her or something. She didn't do this when I crushed the food up but since her teeth are coming in i stopped crushing food up about 2 wks ago since she started being able to chew. Is this something to be concerned about? She has a fine appetite but its almost silly the way she eats lol. |

| Funny yes but nothing to worry about. I think it's a little dog thing. Every Yorkie we've owned has done/does this. My mom's Doxie did it. My sister's little Chi mix does it. And if I had a nickel for every post I've seen on YT talking about how their babies do this I could retire tomorrow. Welcome to the wonderful world of Yorkies! |

| My boy is a little over a year and a half and he does the same thing. He eats till he's full but only when playing. I toss a ball. He fetches. He runs over to his food and water bowls and puts the ball either under the bowls, in one of the bowls, or on the bar of the food bowl stand. He will eat one, and only one. Then bring the ball. If he's really hungry, after 4-5 tosses of the ball he just stays at the bowl until he's full then he will bring the ball and it's play play play. He's so weird.

| lol, Hot Rod used to do that. He would go get a piece of kibble, run clear across the family room eat it and do it again and again. Then when he started to get finicky, I would start playing with him and he'd run and get a piece of kibble come and play some more, get another piece and so on until he stayed at the bowl and ate it up. They definitely have strange little habits. lol Congrats on you little one.

| This is very canine behavior. Canines are basically hunters and this method of eating fulfills their hunting instinct. Not all do it, but very normal.

| I love it when mine do this. Tate, my littlest, likes to "attack" his food. He'll pick up a piece of kibble and take it into the living room and drop it on the floor. Then he'll circle it, sometimes he growls at it, and he bounces his front paws toward it like he's gonna attack. Then he'll back of a few steps and start all over again. It's so entertaining... no wonder I rarely turn my television on.
