| I think Rocco just lost a tooth?! I'm sitting here on the couch and Rocco is nex to me on one of the throw pillows. I notice he's chewing on something. "What are you eating, Rocco?" I ask. I reach over to him, and he drops something tiny, white, and tinged with red. I gingerly pick it up, and with a jarring realization see that it very closely resemebles a tooth, a baby tooth at that. it looks like it must have fallen out quite easily. I checked his mouth, and sure enough, it likes one of the tiny teeth on his lower jaw up front is missing. What do i do about this? He doesnt seem to be in pain. But will this be a first of many? I'm worried about his teeth falling out and if I or my husband aren't there to get it so he doesn't choke or anything. Bella, our yorkie mix, never lost any of her teeth *knock on wood* so i'm not too familiar with this situation.

| Losing baby teeth is fine, and many yorkies do swallow them accidentally with no problem. If the baby teeth all don't come out you may want to have the teeth that are still retained pulled during the spay/neuter. Good luck and no worries |

| Thanks, BanditSocks! How long should I wait? As far as I know this is the first one. Rocco will be 6 months on the 24th of this month. I really would prefer to get them pulled if they havent fallen out already during his neuter. Thank you again for your response!

| I'm sorry, that question sounded silly. I guess I meant to phrase my question as, How long generally does it take for a yorkie's baby teeth to fall out?

| Most people do the spay/neuter around 6 months, but I did both the pups at 7-ish months. That way, more teeth had a chance to fall out on their own and less had to be pulled. The vet saved the teeth she pulled from Nala and I brought them in for show-and-tell for my students....they thought it was AWESOME!! |

| No laughing at me but I have all of Arabella's teeth in a little tooth fairy trinket box, just like my daughters. Basically, I didn't know what to do with them so I figured she is my furbaby so why not.

| I think you should really wait for them to fall out on their own and if they have not fallen out by the time he is 1 year (I think around 1 year, you should ask your vet) then you should take him to the vet to have them pulled out. As far as I have been informed by the vet and other owners of yorkies, it is best for their teeth fall out on their own (unless the adult teeth start growing as a second roll in their mouth then the vet has to take them out or there will be two rows of teeth and this is uncomfortable for the dog).
