Acana is a hit!!!
 
Our bag of Acana Grasslands arrived today!!

I was actually pretty worried about this food for 2 reasons:
1) None of my pups have ever liked anything lamb before (lamb is the main ingredient in Grasslands).
2) I'd heard the kibble size was big. When I saw it I though 'oh no, little Tate isn't going to be able to eat this.' But because the kibble is pretty flat, my little man got right in there and chowed with the big boys! :)

They love it!!!! And I love that I've finally found good quality foods to feed them. Thank you so much to everyone who kept recommending Acana!!! :D

I'm glad to hear that. Acana is next on my l-o-n-g list of foods. I've been putting it off, just because I have to order online and the shipping makes it pricey

That's the main reason I haven't tried it before. My favorite website to order food from doesn't carry it but I emailed them about it. I found another website where the shipping was only $5 on orders over $50, so I gave them a try - no complaints. :) The biggie was finding one that had it in stock and that offered reasonable shipping.

Oh yeaaaaaaah...If I were feeding kibble, Acana would be my brand of choice....I've researched everything on the planet, and I'm sure Acana is the best...I'm so glad your kidz love it! If I don't start getting more pet sitting jobs, my guys will be eating kibble soon lol...I'm going out, tomorrow, and put out flyers...So happy you've found something the crew will eat...

Do you mind telling me the site you are getting it from? I'll have to buy food again soon , so this will be a good time to give Acana a try

Normally I order food from Premium & Organic Dog Food and Dog Treats - Free Shipping. They offer free shipping on orders over $50, and their service has always been excellent. :thumbup:

But, until they start carrying Acana I'll keep ordering it from here Paws Choice | Natural Holistic Pet Food | Premium Pet Food | Natural Pet Treats. Their price was slightly higher than some of the other sites but the savings on shipping more than made up for it, and I was pleased with the shipping time and the service. There were a couple of other sites that I might have ordered from instead, but they never seemed to have anything in stock.

YAY! :) Jackson also loves his Acana we got from our friend. We only have a tiny bit in a baggy but he loves it. It just makes the food process more complicated, lol, but he so far likes NV Instinct, Acana and Before Grain!

PS- stupid question... do you say it A-can-a... or Ah-cahn-a. lmao. If that makes sense!

Oooh, good question. I've been calling it Ah-can-a in my head but I have no idea if that's right.

It sounds like you've found a good rotation for Jackson!! :) I finally feel good about mine, too. I will be feeding NV Instinct (Rabbit/Turkey & Duck), Acana Grasslands, and either Acana Pacifica or Evo Herring and Salmon. Does Jackson like foods with fish? You should try a small bag of the new Evo - my gang went crazy for it.

LOL, okay, that's pretty much how I've been saying it too but I've never really said it outloud much and I'd feel stupid if I called the pet store to see if they had the 5lb bags and said the wrong name! :p He did like the Fromm Surf and Turf... I will grab a sample bag of the Evo, they have a bunch of Evo samples at our food store. Oh and the Acana he liked was the Prairie Harvest one and his fav NV is Turkey & Duck!

I really wish we could do chicken! The Prairie Harvest is another great sounding food that I can't feed, same for the Fromm's. :(

We love it too:) Bandit (knock on wood) still hasn't had diarrhea and vomiting and we're on our 3rd 15 pound bag:)

We did one bag of Prairie, then a bag of Grassland, now we're back to the Prairie. They seem to like the Prairie a little bit better.

Yayyyy bonbon!! I'm so glad your crew loves this great food. Snickers gobbles his whole plate up every night!!! LOVE IT!! Love the company, love the ingredients, love the quality, love everything about it.

We feed Prairie Acana when I feed chicken raw Primal, and then Grasslands Acana when we feed red meat Primal raw.

I do break up the Acana disks with a nut cracker or my lil Snicky won't eat it. (Spoiled brat!!:rolleyes:)

Also...LOL...I pronouce it A-cah-na:):).

ps....You all know how psycho I am about Snick's food. I TRULY believe this combo (Primal/Acana) has helped Snick heal so quickly from LP surgery due to amazing ingredients!!!

I break the food into smaller pieces with nutcracker too. Sandy won't eat if they're not in small pieces or he'll take the whole kibble and hide it in his bed.

If you have your babies in a rotation, how do you do when switching from one brand to the other? doesn't that upset their stomachs?
I would love to rotate, but those s-l-o-w switches drive me crazy...

It has upset their stomachs when I've done it too fast. Those slow switches used to drive me crazy, but after a few times of doing it I don't even think about it anymore. It's an easy routine for me now. One thing I've found is that the switch is much easier on them with what I consider the better quality, grain free foods.... so I can make the change just a little bit faster than I would otherwise.

Doing it this way is worth it to me. I've seen them get bored with their food, and I don't like that. Rotating keeps them excited about mealtime, and I think it's helped keep me from having picky eaters (the opposite is true for some, I know).

I wish they would make it into smaller kibble. They already have the machines from the Cat Acana line (grain free) and Cat Orijen line.
Our cat eats both of theses and the size would be good for smaller pup.
No breaking the food for me-LOL
