Yayy, our Acana shipment just got here! They seem to like it, I gave them both a piece and they sat down waiting for more. I just find the pieces kind of big for Max's mouth, I will have to find a way to cut them or something. Right after I had placed my ordered I found a place that sells Acana, it is a long drive but at least I dont have to pay those outrageous shipping charges, and once I know they like it and it doesn't upset their stomachs, I can buy a bigger bag to last me a bit longer. On a side note, I never thought on how much more food I would be serving daily with my little Tonka girl at home. |

After they've been on it a couple of weeks, you'll have to let me know how their poos are (please tell them I'm sorry for getting so personal :p). I just cannot believe how tiny my pups poos are now!! I mean it's sooooo little. And firm and healthy looking, with very little odor. I could get used to this!! :D |

-has he pooped yet? - How was it, hard, soft, peanut buttery? -,..normal smell or stinky ?? - Big, small? really skinny or fat ( i read once that if they had an intestinal obstruction their poop would be very skinny. ..so as you can see, nothing about poop is too personal to a Yorkie owner ;) I sure will keep you posted on the poop situation ..LOL |
I got the .88lb bags of Acana Prairie Harvest (yay, I found a store that sells the little bags!) so Jackson's been eating it for about 4 days now... maybe 5. He seems to be loving it! And the poo thing... yup, he had his first accident in the house in a while  (I call him my 99% potty trained boy) of course it was my fault for not paying attention to his whines but anyways, the poop didn't smell barely at ALL!! And it was really firm but not too hard, but it didn't leave a stain on the carpet at all. Usually I can smell it when he goes, this time I couldn't! |

Glad to hear your babies love the Ah-can-na! ;) Mine just LOVE it too. They have been on it for almost two months now and no problems at all. Pooping good, eating food and still love it just as much as the first day! I am so happy with this food. :D |
Sasha is currently eating Acana Grasslands and she LOVES it! I rotate between Acana, Orijen, EVO & Blue Buffalo Wilderness is next on the list. She has loved all these foods so far and I'm happy with the results. |
Max and Mickeys poos are much less stinky... YAY! As for smaller. Sometimes. Usually Mickeys are. But I like less stinky! LOVE this food for the pups and our cat. If you have a cat give the Acana a try. Mine LOVES the Prairie one. |
First day on Acana Yesterday was the first day introducing acana, just a few kibbles mixed with their regular food. I did not break them for Max, and even thou he eat everything during the day, I think they are big for him.The both pooped 3 times, when they usually poop 2, but it was firm.Sophie's did smell stronger than usual(thats one of the reasons i had to stop NV) One thing, Max wake up during the night, I thought he needed to go pee, but instead, he went straight to the kitchen and drank a lot of water.Could this be for the higher protein intake? he has never done this in 5 years, I did notice he drank more water while in wellness and NV.Should I be concerned? |
I noticed Mickey drank more water at first. Now it stopped. Maybe I was just looking for changes because I changed his food. Maybe the drinking and more poos could be due to treats or just cuz it is getting hotter. This is the best food my boys have eaten. I love it. No more scratching and feet chewing for either of the boys. No more soft stools (unless they are eating to much bully stick). |
Aw, Jackson just threw up his Acana. :( He ate it just plain dry late at night (11pm) and I heard him hop off the bed and he threw up twice... it was all just the food all mushed up... so odd. I wonder if it just didn't settle with him tonight, he's never had problems with it before! I was about to go buy a new bag tomorrow so I hope the sickness doesn't turn him off of it lol. |

The bag of their old food, is almost gone, so I had to accelerate the process and they are eating almost 90% of Acana, yesterday their poop was "perfect" and Sophie's besides perfect is not stinky , so I think ( I don't want to sing Victory too soon) we have a keeper. |

I'm so glad you posted this Brit. I need to order another bag now or I'll be completely out!! Gonna go do that now. :) |
The next time I buy, I want to try a different "flavor" right now we are on Acana Grasslands, should I go through the tedious process again, or as long as it is Acana, I can switch right away..:confused: |

I usually go through a transition process no matter what. But I don't take nearly as long to do it if I'm switching between the same brand. I really hope mine like the Pacifica as much as they do the Grasslands. I just like how they're doing on Acana period and I'd love to keep this as their main food. :) |
Layla loves Acana Lamb and Apple! I switched her from Orijen 6 Fish. She likes the lamb much better! |
I switch back and forth from Grasslands to Prairie and vice versa all the time with no problems. When ever I switch Snick's raw, depending on the protein, I'll switch his kibble too. Meaning, if he is on red meat raw, he eats Grasslands. And if he is on white meat/poultry raw, he eats Prairie. He loves them both!! Acana is wonderful! IMO-best kibble out there. Wonderful ingredients, not too high protein level, grainfree, no ethoxyquin!! Yay! Smiles- Snick & Viv |

Even daily...one meal of Prairie and one meal of Graslands  I also like the "medium" level of protein. Not to high that I worry about to much protein and not to low that I worry not enough protein. My boys love it. Only issue is the size. They do not chew it. It gets swallowed. |
Acana and Orijen, best food hands down!! We tried something else once (Merrick?) and Derby hated it. Well he ate it, bit he loves Orijen. We only started him on Acana at first... |
We love Acana Grasslands too! Mimi has stopped eating (well, more like picking, but still gross:p) her #2!:yay_jump: They're all doing so well on it. When Momo went in for his dental cleaning, his blood work came out perfect & his protein level was normal. So, my concern over the protein level was somewhat dramatized.:p Quote:

I'm experiencing the same thing with Maddox and Tate - they seemed to have stopped eating poo! Another great benefit of Acana!! :yay_jump: Before, they ate it no matter what food I was feeding. I don't know what makes Acana different, but I like it!! :D |
