after reading all the posts i ordered acana prairie 5 lb bag along with feeding primal raw I'm hoping this will get a little extra weight off madison.

I usually go through a transition process no matter what. But I don't take nearly as long to do it if I'm switching between the same brand.

It seems Pacifica is another hit!! The babies like it and they are still doing so well, and have the teeniest little poos! I think I'm just gonna stay on Acana for a while and rotate between Grasslands and Pacifica. Ahhhh, it feels so good to finally find THE food.

I don't know why I never thought of feeding the Pacifica flavor... I personally haven't liked the smell of the fish based foods, can you tell me how it smells? lol

We are on our 5.5lb bag of the Prairie Harvest right now (he had been eating the Grasslands one before).

The fish smell is pretty strong. Not as bad as the EVO Salmon and Herring but much stronger than other fish-based foods I've tried. It's a much more realistic fresh food smell, you know? The smell bothered me for just a day or two, but now I don't even notice it. But, I really think you should try it. Between the 3 Acana flavors you would have an excellent rotation for Jackson. If you get the Pacifica and don't like it, I'll buy it from you - we love it!

I'll probably give it a try. I was sooo glad I found this pet store near me (Pet Barn) that has the little .88 trial bags of Acana in all flavors so maybe next time I go there I'll pick up a sample of the Pacifica one and see how he likes it! Does Acana have wet food, do you know? Or Orijen? Usually for Jackson's dinner, I give him a little wet mixed in w/ the dry food and I've been using the NV Instinct cans still, as well as Merrick's Before Grain. I don't know if Acana has wet food??

No, they don't make canned food. Here's a quote from the FAQ section of their website.

This will be worth watching for. I'm still about 3 days away from UPS delivering my acana, so I'll have to find a store somewhere that is closer so I don't have to wait 7-10 days for food. Plus I don't like the fact of it being in hot ups trucks.

I shop at Whole Pet Central in Rockville mostly. They also have an online ordering site.

My older cat LOVES the Acana Prairie for cats.
It is $14.99 for 5.5lbs.


The boys favorite are Prairie and the Grasslands.
They liked the Pacifica but I could not stand the fish smell-LOL

They are eating a bag of EVO chicken right now because the Acana was out of stock for a week.

For everyone who uses acana I have a question. How's the hopefully lack of eye goop? I'm hoping that deminishes. My dogs don't have much but none would be awesome.

I *think* I paid $13-something for the Prairie Harvest. I can't remember how much for Grasslands. Pretty sure they were both $13-something. I go to Pet Barn.

I have to order mine online because nobody carries it locally. Also, I order the largest bag, which lasts me about 6 weeks. With shipping, I pay $65-$70 depending on which flavor I get.

It's been the same as it was on NV Instinct - little to none.

It didnt help with my dogs' eye goop at all, but Acana is still a good food. My dogs just cant eat it..
