| Brushing Teeth Hello. I am a new Yorkie mommy with a question. I am trying to figure out how often you are suppose to brush their teeth. I am not sure if its twice a day, once a day, three times a week, etc. I have been doing research and been getting a lot of different information. I learn so much on this forum, I think this is the best place to ask. Thanks for your help! |

| Optimal is twice a day. Still very good (what a lot of us try to do) is once a day. Minimum is 3-4 times a week.

| I think it also depends alot on the dog. Some are more prone to bad teeth than others. Jackson is 1 1/2 years old and has no tarter buildup, his teeth are shiny and white, and I just recently (2 months ago) started brushing. I brush 1-2x per week and spray Petzlife once a week just for maintenance.

| I brush daily and apply Petzlife on the weekend in addition to brushing. Our vet is very complimentary about her teeth.

| Wow! no tartar yet! What kind of food do you feed your dog, and what kind of dental bones do you use? Lynda |

| We brush a couple of times a week. I scale the teeth every couple of months if I see anything building up (rare). Barney is going to be 10 in August and has never needed a cleaning. Daisy had one cleaning and she also is almost 10. Teddy so far has nice clean teeth too. Teddy brushes his own teeth, and he uses the electric toothbrush. The others need help.

| If you were asking me- he currently eats Nature's Variety Instinct kibble, Merrick's Before Grain canned food (a little bit of it at dinner time) and for bones... typically bully sticks and Himalayan chews.

| I only just started brushing their teeth about a month ago, and I try to do it nightly. Brody is the one with the tartar, and Rhianna's teeth are beautiful! But I have to say honestly, Rhianna is the only one who looks forward to it . . she actually waits in the bathroom by the vanity anticipating teeth time! I basically have to trick Brody into doing it, he will actually hide . . .so some nights, I do let him get away with it . . .

| Thanks everyone I really appreciate the help. Can anyone tell me where to get the Petzlife from? Is in petstores or is it something I need to order online? |
