| Please recommend a good puppy food Hello we have a new small yorkie boy. He is only 2.5 lbs at 5 months. Please recommend a really good puppy food for health and a great coat. I noticed that he has alot of dandruff as well. Should we only feed dry food or is wet food okay? Thanks |

There are a lot of really good foods out there, they dont all work for every dog. Stick with the high quality brands like California Natural, Innova, FROMM, Orijen, Solid Gold, Wellness, etc. and you will be fine. Do you have a pet store near you that sells these brands? many times they will provide you with sample bags so that you can try them on your puppy and see which ones they like. This way you dont buy a bag of something just to have your dog turn up their nose at it. Feeding only dry is fine and adding wet is good too. I feed only dry and then add in fresh ingredients like vegetables, sweet potatoes, and fish or chicken to one meal per day so that they get a little variety and something extra tasty. Good Luck.

| I feed Sasha Blue Buffalo puppy food. Check out the sticky chart here on the health and welness threads that grade dog foods and you'll see that only about 6 or 7 brands grade over 100% (Blue Buffalo is one of them, that's why I chose it!). She really likes it a lot. You have to be careful with wet food, as yorkies have very sensitive teeth and wet food can do more damage than good. The dry food actually helps to clean their teeth.

| 5, not all from Petsmart/Petco though THEN I got smart and found one of those little shops that provides samples, I did bring them all to the shelter, so at least they will feed someone even if it isnt my picky little BRATS!

I would recommend Acana small breed puppy. The pieces are tiny and tasty! Mine love the food. They have no itchies or dandruff and very happy healthy dogs! | |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That's a great idea, funny how the shelter dogs aren't quite as picky!
