| When did you spay your baby girl? We changed vets and the new vet says we can spay Rudy at 5 months. Her old vet said 6 months. When did everyone here do it? (We changed to a closer vet... Loved the old one, but the drive was CRAZY!) Thanks y'all!

| When we went in on yesterday, Rudy weighed in at 2 pounds. She is 4 months... That's kinda why I want to wait until she's at least 6 months, hoping she will gain a little more weight.

| Apple was spayed @ 12 months...I wanted to wait 'till she was 18 months, based on some research I'd done, but she needed a couple of teeth out (upper canines), and I really couldn't wait any longer...If I neuter Buzz, I'll wait 'till he's 18 months old...As long as he doesn't start marking in the house, and he hasn't (he's 8 months old), I don't see it as a problem...He squats in the house on a pee pad (that's if he has to use it in the middle of the night) and hikes outside in the backyard and on walks... |

| 5 months would be ok. I was thinking I had Kacee spayed at 6 mos, but it was at 7 mos. We had a delay.

| 5 months is pretty young, especially for a yorkie because they are so small to begin with you want to give them as much chance to grow before you spay. I waited until Chloe was 10 months old and likely not growing anymore.

| Waiting a bit longer can also be beneficial for pulling any retained teeth. She will only have to be put under one time if you wait till 7-10 months.

| Sasha was going to be spayed when she was 6 months, but we had to wait because she ended up going into heat. She got spayed when she was 7 or 8 months...can't remember exactly. It worked out good in our favor though because all of her baby teeth had fallen out except for 2 which were removed during the surgery. |

| We are waiting until after Eva's first heat. She is 11 months and in heat right now so it will be done in May. I did research on the subject and we decide to wait to allow full bone growth completion. Some argue risk of mamory tumors if not done early. Breeders however wait 2 heat cycles and yet seem not to be concerned with mamory cancer, perhaps the risk is lowered after giving birth? I don't see how, two heat cycles without concieving is two cycles regardless. There are mixed opinions on when to spay.

| Magnus was neutered this past Friday. He's about 4.5 months old and at about 7.2 lbs. Originally, I was going to wait till he was 6 months but he seemed to be "growing up" little too fast so I decided to get it done now. Of course, I read up on all the pros & cons on getting neutered early. Came to a conclusion that the pros outweigh the cons in my case. I think it's best to assess fast your pup is maturing and go from there. Good luck!!!! |

| Teegy was neutered on Monday the day after he turned 7 months, his weight was 4.4lbs. My vet also removed any remaining baby teeth that could present problems of infection if they didn't come out on their own. He was a little skittish when I got him home and wouldn't even stay in a different room than me. Probably because he's never been anywhere overnight without me. But he's springy and sparky and playing with his toys and eating away at his food no problem today. Poor little bugger. |
