| There is a powder you can sprinkle on their food that will make them not want to eat the poop. I dont remember the name. Pretty sure all the bigger pet supply stores carry it. Also I immediatly clean up all poop. I just pick it up with a Kleenex and flush it down the toliet. |

| This is not an uncommon problem and there are a lot of threads on YT about this so you are not alone. My advice to you would be to feed them BOTH pineapple~yes pineapple. Start with one piece each before meals like a treat. Make sure you pick up all poop so they do not have access to it for snacking purposes. It will take a while t change the digestive enzymes in their intestines but it will work. After a few days if one piece does not seem to be enough then you can add a second piece. Pineapple will not upset their tummies and they will like it because it is sweet. There are LOTS of former poop eaters on YT but I promise you if you are diligent you can stop this gross little habit. I can also guarantee your question will bring out all of the closet poop eaters with their questions. One question~what food are you feeding? This could be part of your problem too. Foods that are very high in grains taste better then the ones with more protein. It's like they are making little warm loaves to snack on. I would like to add that this is not the only reason for a dog to eat poop such as momma's cleaning up after puppies and coming from puppymills but none the less it is a habit and that habit needs to be stopped and prevented.

| I have tried the powder for the food, I have tried pineapple in their food, and even some homeopathic pills but none of that stopped it. I just changed food for a different reason but that seems to be having a side effect. They are suddenly not so interested in stool samples. I will let you know if that is really working out or if I am just wishful thinking.

| You can always pick it up after they go! After all, if they go outside you go with them, right? If they go inside, you immediately pick it up, right? |

| It's not that easy when you have several dogs and they are all going at the same time. Before you can get to some of it you have to race the poop eater. If you have one or two dogs it is a lot easier to beat them to it.

Many times just changing the food is enough to get them to stop. I will guarantee you that you were not feeding enough or for a long enough time for the pineapple for it to work. Like I said, if one piece does not do the trick after a few days then increase it to a couple of piece and keep increasing it until you see improvement. It takes about a week or more for the tasty poop to all leave the intestines and the pineapple to really work and then you need to even adjust from there. There is no quick fix like some people are looking for. I've even had some people tell me that the poop eating when to poop holding(in the mouth) to finally stopping but it did take a while.

| The problem with pineapple for my crew is that it made several of them sick to the stomach. I couldn't leave them on it long enough to see if it worked really.

| My 7 month old male Yorkie Hadley hasn't eaten his poop but when we first got him he would pick it up in his mouth and move it infront of the gate, it was like he wanted to show me so I would clean it up or maybe so he could get a treat lol. I was so afraid he would start eating it but he never did and that has stopped now. When he would poop I would tell him in a stern voice to leave it and clap my hands. Not sure if thats what stopped it but he doesn't do it any more. |
