Glad I found this thread.... I was just abot to start on along the same lines. I fed Ava (now 4.5 mo) Orijen, but the protein is way too high for her, and gave her stomach issues early on. I started mixing it with Wellness wet while I researched the best options. CONFUSING! I took my time, went to the pet store and spoke to the workers a few times. Well, we went in today ready to buy Wellness Puppy dry or Innova, but the owner told me that NOW! Puppy Chicken and Duck would be the way to go because it's lower protein and grain free... this is rare as the rest of you were saying. It did concern me that potato flour was the second ingredient, but she said that it's a good source of fiber. I'm excited to let her try it, and I'll let you all know what happens! :animal-pa |
Lily is still having her 4-5 stools per day and still not as firm as Max's. These frequent stools are not working in my favor for her housebreaking issues. :) My next choice was Fromm's Surf & Turf which is slightly higher in protein but not as high as most of the other grain free kibble. I went through 1 bag of food between the 2 of them in about 1.5 weeks....probably because Max needs more because the kibble is so tiny for him. Lily will do fine on the regular size kibble so I'll buy that size next and see how it goes. |
We received our sample of Now (Thanks Bonny!!) and started to mix with her old kibble. She ate everything :) Let's see how the rest of the week goes!!! |
Just noticed this food has Coconut Oil in it :) See bottom of page 1 where I listed ingredients. That is supposed to be good as a supplement for dogs, right? |

Lola ate Now last night and this morning...poops look ok...still firm...not soft poop :) |
They sell a small size sample type bag here for $4-$5. I think I will pick up a bag to try. Are you all trying the Small Breed or Adult type? My store near here has both. |
we got the adult kibble...the small breed and adult kibble are the samne size...Im guessing the ingredients are different for the two types?? |

Looks like cat food - LOL See picture on their site http://www.petcurean.com/files/File/small%20breed%20sel%20sheet%20US%20web.pdf |

I got the adult food (local store doesn't carry the small breed) and it's plenty small enough for all of mine. The kibble is smaller than Instinct and TOTW, but not as small as Evo Herring & Salmon. I noticed the order of the ingredients listed, too. But there was someplace on their website that talked about their "steaming" process of cooking foods and it made me feel much more comfortable about the levels of meat contained in the food. I'll see if I can find that in a little while. |

I used to feed this food to my oldest dog as it was so readily available! She LOVED it and did very well on it, until about a year ago and there was a formula change. I don't know why but her stomach never settled to the new stuff and I switched her to Acana and my yorkie came with Acana so I've just kept him on that. It's a really good quality food - my cat still eats it and won't even touch anything else. |

Well, I've almost got the kiddos fully transitioned and things are going great. They all seem to really like it they all have nice, firm poos. This food might be a keeper for us. :) |
