I Bathe my little one once a week and her coat smells great. Her muzzle does smell like dog food all the time, but she's a pup and still eating a wet/dry mix. I am hoping once I have her on all dry food the smell will be gone. Wiping her face and hind quarters helps keep them from smelling musky. |
Piper doesn't smell, I bathe her about every 7-10 days. Matter of fact she smells soooo good, I could just eat her up. |
I had to reply again yorkies don't smell like dogs they smell like babies ......at least mine do lol |
The only time Roxy ever smelled dog was when I first got her. She had bath the day before. Started mixing in her new diet & dog smell/breath was gone inside of a week. Baths weekly. She never smells like dog... even when wet. Now only time is when she has been to her weekly day care. I bath her the following day. She's to exhausted the night she's been there. Favorite shampoo/conditioner is BioGroom. House doesn't smell like dog either. : ) |
I give Lucky a bath weekly.....my apartment NEVER smells of a dog!! I sometimes crave for the smell of my baby....lol I think he smells of everything sweet, all mixed into a little hurricane of wonderfullness!!:) |

well.... My 5 month pup does smell a little canine if he gets wet in the yard, though I bath him usually every 10 days; however, the house doesn't get odors just him. My problem could be due to the fact that I don't give him the daily maintenance like some pallet here do- just the brushing. |
Neither my house nor my Sasha smell like dog. I bathe her once a week, just because I like her coat to be soft and smooth and not oily. That's one of the reasons that I chose this breed. I don't have a very big house, and I didn't want a dog smelling house or dog lol, and yorkies are perfect! She does have puppy breath, but I love it lol! |

LMAO.....Sometimes I only wish my apt. smelled liked my Yorkie!!!!:p |
Well I guess I am the only one with a lil' stinker. My maltese can go weeks without taking a bath and not stink but my baby yorkie, Shees, only last one day smelling fresh. I bath her every 7-10 days. But as far as my house, no the smell is just her and nobody seems to care how she smell they still hug her and give tons of attention. |
I wanted to add that if I do not use certain shampoos, they do take on a funk after a week. One time, I tried a new shampoo and we visited my mom and she asked me "Why do they sell like dogs?" -- that's how unusual it was! |
so i read somewhere that yorkies should only be bathed once a month....but i see alot of you say you bathe yours about once a week or so. This makes me feel better b/c my new yorkie boy always kinda smells. He has stinky breath massively (getting teeth cleaned next week) and he licks himself. And when he and my pom play, she tends to chew on him and what not, so hes a stinker with some crusty hair in spots...lol basically i just wanted to make sure it wouldnt hurt him to give him a bath once every 2 weeks or so like i do my pom. ?? Also i have a lot of problems washing his face..he was a rescue dog used for breeding at one point, and he doesnt like ppl touching his face. Hes not aggressive but he just moves fast and hes so tiny that its hard to get his chin hairs and stuff clean. Any ideas? |
Smell like a dog? I know what you mean. I have to admit I hardly ever give Ruger a bath, but he doesn't smell at all, even when wet. Which reminds me, I think he's way overdo for a bath, but not because he smells. :) |
