Buddy has never had that doggy smell,l even when wet, when that order usually appears. He always smells sweet. He get's bathed every other week. His coat is prue silk and never get's greasey. I think Yorkies in general do not have that doggy order to them. |
I didn't read the other posts but I just want to say I have 3 dogs in the house. Two yorkies and a bull terrier. I don't find my house to stink and my friends have never said they smell dog in the house. I am sure they would smell an accident before they would smell "dog". My yorkies don't stink, they have a unique smell to them and I love it, I love smelling my yorkies! Lol :p |
Louis definetly doesn't smell like a dog. He gets a bath about once a week, and his hair smells like his shampoo. This is another good thing about a yorkie!:) |

I bathe Castor Pollux once a week (which is too frequently) but if you're still weary (which they smell lovely, even wet-- my dog smells like wet hair and not like wet dog) you can spay them, there is a conditioner spray that spells like rasberries. I don't ever spray directly on Castor Pollux, but I do spray the comb i comb him with |
Stink, in review! I have a houseful! :D The silky coats, NEVER smell bad, but get bathed and blow dried every 7-10 days. The soft (Wooly/Cotton Coat gets bathed less frequently, and has a slight odour, when wet  if he is need of a bath. The Shephard and lab, get bathed even LESS frequently , and need more baths! lol  |

This is a great question!! I think with proper grooming, yorkie's are not prone to the stinkys. Now, their feet are another story, they don't stink, they smell like corn chips esp after being outside. I do tend to notice Snickers can absorb the "outside" smell when he's out there for periods of time, but that goes away after about 1/2 hour after being back inside. I also notice diet can play a roll in how your dog smells as well. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION but I think that dogs who eat good---smell good. Our neighbors have 2 Westies who eat a controversial food and they for sure have the doggy smelling house. Some of us may not know if our house smells like dog...I remember when Snick 1st came to us and we were poty training, we would ask our family members who were honest and they said it smells like dog. Now I'm on top of it with cleaning Snickers and my house and when I ask now, I always get a good smelling home review. I am a lil OCD with cleanliness. Snick can tend to get a lil stinky if I don't stay on top of his eye gunk and wipe his eyes regularly. Also, bully sticks can make a Yorkie's mouth area smell not so pleasant. I also use warm babywipes and wipe Snick's face, peanut, feet, and bum evey morning and before bed. Smiles- Snick & Viv |
No dog odor here! |
I would never quess that Yorkies would have an odor. They have hair like another person has mentions. I give Pixie a bath ever 7 days on Sunday afternoon. No doggie smell in my house. I also have a cat and not smell from her either. :yelrotflm:sidesplt: |
