i agree and why i went to optho as dry eye runs in this breed so i wanted to rule that out as that is the most serious so she did a thorough eye exam and worth every penny as when i left i felt much better. Eyes are nothing to mess with bc if dry eye gets bad enough they can go blind so best to take in have eyes checked and schirmer test done on them since it is so common in this breed.

also something i just learned as dex nose started getting dry and crusty on one side i will post pics and that can be a sign of dry eye as the tear duct does not drain properly down to nostril moistening it so since it was winter i held off on going back to optho and now it is almost all moist again so was probably due to dry skin like happens to humans but if he does not have a tear duct then he would have a dry crusty nostril on that side as the two go hand in hand but i would strongly recommend taking him to opthamologist for a full thorough exam here is the link to find one in your area and you always want board certified http://www.acvo.org/locate_an_ophthalmologist.htm Last edited by dwerten; 02-18-2010 at 03:59 AM.

thanks so much as i posted about this earlier but it was in winter and now his nose looks better now so his may be dry skin as opposed to dry eye but glad to confirm this is the case as read this to be true. I will still have him dry eye tested next visit with schirmer to be sure that did not cause this crusting as i like to be safe
