| Why does he lick his paws so much? I have a 3 1/2 year old male yorkie who has a thing about licking his paws. He will lay on the couch and lick his front paws for a really long time. I've inspected his feet including looking in between the toes and the pads and I don't see anything wrong. Is this normal behavior or should I be worried? |

| It could be boredom or habit, but to the best of my knowledge quite often it is allergies. |

| It could be food allergies...what are you feeding your little one?

| Yeast, bacteria, allergies, it can be a # of things. The vet does what's called a cytology to find out what it is...hopefully you can take him in soon before it becomes a problem. Momo had it done recently bc he licked his paw raw & it got inflammed. Our vet prescribed some topical spray & he's all better now.

| He's actually on prescription food from the vet because he has acid reflux. He's not licking them raw. He tends to do it mostly when he's tired so I'm thinking it may be more of a comfort thing. |

| Just a suggestion but if he is only doing it when he is tired and you think it is a comfort thing could you re-direct what he is doing..maybe offer him a favorite chewie. If it gets to be a habit he can really cause problems to the skin on between the toes and the pads. |
