I never knew about keeping the hair on their chest cut short - I always had male CATS so I guess dogs are totally different in that perspective.....that's some serious travel :D.....now I see why some need belly bands. |

To get really specific, I don't believe there are any other threads on dogs regularly licking their erect penises (sorry, just need to be clear about this!). I've seen threads on humping, or when the penis gets "stuck", but I don't remember any questions on this particular behavior, especially as something that developed suddenly. To me, this behavior looked sexual, but based on this thread and what my vet said, I'm leaning towards a grooming thing now. BTW, I did thin the pee string out a lot, but duh, I cut the bottom part of it off and left the top. So now there's pee splatter, AND Thor's still licking it clean. I think it's going to need to come off entirely. |

uh maybe that is why i cannot keep him under control in the morning lolllll He likes his privacy though because he never does it when i am in the room but when i come out there is no denying it . |

My little Jussi is almost 1-year old and he was neutered at 6 months. He tried to hump "Tickle Me Elmo" several times and I promptly put Elmo away. Since then he's hasn't tried it with anything else (I think). But, he has recently started marking. We had taken him to the Breeder's home with us to see our new little babies and it started right after. We haven't seen him do it at home but he has done it at a friend's house who has a little girl furbaby. (His girlfriend) Besides wearing belly band I don't know how to stop the marking either. Good luck and I hope you're little guy is ok and that all this will soon pass. |

Hey you know, I just started to do nails. It\'s really easy! Just get a really good, sharp set of doggie nail clippers, watch the YT video, and you\'re good to go. I am embarrassed to admit this, but maybe it will help someone else.... I didn\'t realize that people nail clippers and doggie nail clippers are totally different. The doggie ones are much, much easier. I tried the pantyhose thing, but a bunch of hair came through anyway. Now I just use a little set of nail scissors to trim the fur between the pads if I can\'t see a nail well. I just take a little bit off at a time, and give Thor a treat every time. He doesn\'t love it, but he doesn\'t wail and scream either. If I\'m really far away from the quick, he doesn\'t mind much at all. As I get closer, he starts trying to pull his paw away though. I\'ve never cut close enough to make him bleed though, knock on wood. Generally, I think it\'s good practice to do it, I think ultimately it can build trust with your dog and get him more confident in handling his body. |
