Spaying a really small yorkie and using human fish oil questions.

I give my girls Derm Caps. It's from the vet and is made with safflower oil & fish oil and also has a source of vitamin E in it. I take a large needle and poke it through the end from one side to another and squeeze equal # of drops on their food. Seems to be helping a lot with dry skin. Pro-Pet from Wal-Mart is also pretty good. It has vitamin E and A and is pretty inexpensive.

I had looked at the ones from Wal-mart and even had them in the buggy but put them back because I read on the back that they contained liver oils of some kind and I was concerned. I was told a few days ago that that could do harm to a yorkie because they have liver problems anyway sometimes. I was offered some from the vet too. I think I will start with the pills I have now and when they are gone I will look into getting something better. Glad you found something to help with the dry skin! It sure seems like something small but has caused a lot of big problems!

Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories and advice. I have Fiona's spay scheduled for first thing Monday morning. I am having the blood work done to make sure there is nothing wrong and I have requested all the extras for a little dog. I went into the office and spoke with some of the assistants and the doc himself. I feel comfortable with them and I feel she will be in good hands. We are waiting to start the oil until after. I will let everyone know how it goes and please send a little prayer up for her that day. I will probably be on YT some that day to get support and pass the time till I can bring her home safe and sound!

It is good to have a vet you are comfortable with. You and Fiona will be in my prayers for her appt. on Mon. I wish I could go ahead and have Daisy done, but I will be taking of a week in April, school will be out for Spring break and I will be home with my daughter, so I will have Daisy spayed then so I can baby her

Thank you for the paryers! I will be a nervous wreck and I know Fiona will be. She won't understand and she gets nervous around people anyway. Just can't wait till it is over!! It is good that you are waiting till you can spend some time with her. Take care of her the right way. Let me know where you are going to have it done. We will send up some prayers too. I am a stay at home mom right now so I can keep an eye on her when she comes home. Thank again for all the thoughts!
