Spaying. Recovery Our Kaia was spayed on Wednesday and vet also told us to use the E collar for 10-14 days. Over the years have had many puppies spayed but this is the first time we were even given an E collar. Looking over the posts on this site the one difference that stands out is that our vet used sutures that dissolve both externally as well as internally and we have no follow-up appointment for suture removal. That fact makes sense to me for why the vet wants no licking of the incision for at least 10 days. We've sort of compromised on the E collar, put it on overnight and take it off during the day when we can monitor her trying to lick the incision. As others have said, the tough part is following the vets instructions of no running or jumping for 10 days. We probably made 2 days before she wanted to do all the above, think my wife may have a heart attack every time Kaia tries to run and jump!:aimeeyork |
Ohhhh the memories you brought back of the days of spaying lol, my girls were back to their naughty lil selves the next day, wanting to run, jump, zoom through the house. I know that heart attack feeling very well. It's amazing how they jump back so quickly after surgery lol. |
