Is this a normal sign of heat? Last night when I got home from work Penelope was acting very strange. I bought her this new bed that I put in my bed (we sleep right next to each other) and she has always loved to dig in it, but not the old one. Last night she was going CRAZY digging and biting at it till she was panting! I've never seen her do that before. She would alway dig a little and then lay down. So I put a towel over the bed and she stopped digging and laid down FINALLY. LOL This morning when I woke up she has been sprinting all over the house barking her head off for no good reason! This is not her usual behavior, she is not an excessive barker, and she doesn't usually run all over the house for hours. I have also noticed that she isn't eating her dog food anymore! I gave her a scrambled egg and she ate that. Thankfully!! Is this normal? Is this her heat coming on?? Should I be concerned?

What is the stuffing in the bed? Sometimes people with small dogs buy cat beds/toys and I believe some of them have catnip inside. I have 2 girls and they don't do any of that when they are coming into heat.

Hmmm...I've used those for my dogs for years and never had any trouble like you describe...they do like to scratch in them though. Maybe it's the fluffiness of the sheepskin that makes them want to scratch. Try washing it with the soap/softener you usually use on her things...maybe that will help.
