| food allergies (ecoli) I have a 5 yr old male and his name is Sid. In 07/08 We had a lot of tests run trying to find out what was wrong with him. His test were possitive for ecoli. (My vet said no way). He has been on a high-end dog food sence he was 8 weeks old and weighed 5 lb. We kept him alive with kaopectate, nutrical, and fortiflora, but he had melted away to 2.3 lbs. Two weeks ago I aquired some venison and sweet potatoes. Within 2 days his symptoms was gone. He has gained to 4 lbs and no medicine. I ended up with a very nice xmas present. I didn't realize food allergyes could cause all kinds of problems. I'm going to try a grain free diet. Hope this can help someone. Merry xmas |

| If he's doing well on the venison and sweet potatoes I wouldn't change it just yet. His little body has been through quite an ordeal and could use some time to recover, before you go changing things up on him again. But that is super news that he's put on that much weight! BTW: Welcome to YT!

| yeah if it is not broke do not break it or you can be borrowing more trouble and high vet bills - stick to what works especially in a dog that has been sick. I have been there and spent a fortune on vet bills it adds up fast and if your dog is doing well then leave it be |
