| Help with Diarrhea!! Can someone help me? My little Angel has diarrhea for the last couple days. I get worried with her since she is only 1.7# and 4 1/2 years old. She is fragile. She just got over a life threatning pyometra and had surgery for that last month along with kidney and bladder infection!! I had heard of using kaopectate (sp) but I wouldn't know how much to give her. I know she got it from eating something that she shouldn't (garlic chicken) but I didn't think it would affect her so badly. She did love it though. I have heard of the pumpkin but is that for constipation or diarrhea? I have had 'albon' from the vet before but really don't want to go to the vet right now. The almost $1500. I spent there last month was about all I can do right now. HELP!! |

| My new puppies had it and I was told by a good breeder to give them some Albon and some pepto. You can give her about 1/2 cc of the pepto. Also, fix her a bland diet of boiled skinless chicken breast and rice. Make sure that you keep her hydrated with some pedalyte.

| Just went through diarrea w/Lola. As soon as she eats grass or something she has the most sensitive stomach. I give her chewable pepto and a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice for a few days. This time I also had to give her a dose of flagyl which is a prescription from the vet. Usually one or two doses do the trick. I have tried everything so if you hear of something new I want to hear about it. good luck morrislaz |

| The pumpkin works for both diarrhea and constipation. Depends on how much you give. A little fibre (pumpkin) added to the diet can stop diarrhea. But if you give more, it will work on the intestines and get them moving again. I always change the diet first. Plain white rice and baby food chicken. The pedialite is a good idea in the water too. Also you can add a little Karo Syrup to the water to make her drink more. Pepcid is okay too. Good luck with your baby.

| Thank you everyone for responding. I ended up calling the vet and getting 'Amforol". I gave her just one dose yesterday and she hasn't pooped yet. So I guess she is good. She is such a little sweetie. Angel is a special little girl. She was not supposed to live she was under 2 oz when born. They were sure she would die within a day or two but she was a good eater and survived. She, however ended up with Cerebial Palsy. She could only take a step or two then fall. The breeder kept her on a nurcing mother for almost a year getting the 'good stuff'. She however was weak and kept falling. The breeder actually gave her to me to die. Knowing I would be here for her 24-7. When I got her we thought she would be dead within a couple weeks. She kept eating though. I kept torturing her with trying to make her walk. I would put my hand under her little belly and play walking with her. then she started to get a litle stronger. Summer was here and I would put her out in the middle of the yard and make her make her own way back to the sidewalk IT worked!! She has a wobble when she walks and she can't go far at one time but hey, she will be 5 in June! She is my little miracle. |

| Glad to hear she is doing well. No wonder you were so concerned. Quite a story, and it seems to have a happy ending. I'm very happy for both of you.
