| We feed prey model raw but do keep some pre-made raw, like Nature's Variety on hand for when we travel, I forget to buy food.. etc. However, there has been a recent controversy about where NV sources their meat from. This is the link to the thread. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...enaturant.html I personally have lost a lot of respect and trust for this company so we will no longer feed NV products. If you are looking for a pre-made raw company, I'd go with Primal, Bravo, or Stella and Chewy's. Another company I really like is Paw Naturaw but it's not as popular so you might have to order it online.

| We were feeding nature's variety but decided to switch to bravo. he has liked both brands but we where having a little trouble with his stool being very dry and very firm. since the switch his stool as been a lot better. we also like the texture of the bravo. the natures variety seem to be sticky not sure but think it was because of the eggs they add to the medallions. It also had some larger Pieces of bones that he had throw up a few times. We haven't notice him throwing up since the switch. the bravo doesn't have eggs. It contains one proteins source and four vegetables. Bravo is a little more work since must of it is sold in the chub form but its really not the bad just had to by a scale to do the daily portions. |

| We were on Nature's Variety and then Snickers revolted and decided he didn't like it anymore and we switched to Primal and all is perfect again. After we switched the issues of NV came up and I'm SO happy we switched b/c after reading the controversies, we would be have ended up switched anyway. I would not feed NV b/c of the following: -they outsource their Rabbit meat for their raw from China (big NO-NO! -their medallions have large chunks of bone in them which Snick would spit out -controversy of using denaturant to preserve their meat (a form of charcoal) I feel very safe using Primal. Smiles- Snick & Viv

| I rotate between NV & Primal, but after I look into what Viv said, about that charcoal thingy, I may not use NV...My furkids love both brands, but I'm all about what's the very best for my babies, just as we all are |

| Primal is one of the best, barf is also another good brand to try. Northwest Naturals 1 lb bars are great, they defrost really fast, and scored in 1/4 lbs and individually wrapped, so they fit just about anywhere in your freezer. Northwest Naturals owns the human grade food processing facility, they make primal raw at their facility for primal. Northwest Naturals™ - The Best Natural Raw Dog Food and Natural Raw Cat Food. |

| Wow, thanks lukes for that tidbit of info regarding Primal. That's great!! Are you the owner of Luke's? I think it great that someone who is selling dog supplies knows about their inventory so well and cares about what they are selling to pet owners. I had emailed Primal about their use of denaturant but did not hear back. I have been meaning to call them but have not had the time with all the holiday craziness, I haven't gotten around to it just yet. Thanks- Snick & Viv

| Yes, I tried just about every thing we carry, so I can explain it well from personal experience, Food wise. I also get the added benefits from chatting with in-store customers and company repersentatives. I'm still trying to learn all the diseases, conditions, medical concerns that can be helped with proper nutrition. I'm sure, it'll be a lifelong learning experience. Regarding Primal, you should call them, the owners name I believe is Mark, if my memory serves me right. There's a 50/50 chance he'll answer the phone when you call. He's a really nice guy. NW Naturals also used to manufacturer Steve's Real Dog Food. |

| you are a jewel, Luke. My adult yorkie, Zoe (4 3/4 pounds), is almost six years old and gets pancretitus easily so we keep her on a special diet that is low fat. She also has luxating patella on both back legs. I'm thinking that the raw bones would give her some needed nourishment in that area. We also give her Coseqin for cats everyday with her canned food. I also now have a new little guy, Zack, who is 7 months old (4 1/4 pounds) and seems to be perfectly healthy, thank goodness. When we are low on all of our current food, I'd like to switch them to a raw diet and see if her conditions improve any. I will give Mark a call and speak with him regarding my questions and issues that Zoe has. Thanks so much!!! |
