| Histiocytomas I took Lacy to the vet cuz she had a lump on her ear. It's her left ear on the outside on the pointy part. I thought maybe her a Cruz were playing a little too rough and he bit her a little too hard or something. But after about two days it looked the same. Anyway the vet said it's a histiocytoma. Here's some info I got from the vet: Histiocytomas are very common skin tumors in dogs. They are benign and usually affect younger pets. Boxers, dachsunds, cocker spaniels, great danes, and shetland sheepdogs are more susceptible to these growths than other breeds. Histiocytomas usually occur singly on the head and face, ears and legs. Usually they are less than 1 inch in diameter, button or dome-shaped and ulcerated. The vet gave Lacy a shot in her ear right where the lump is. She said that it should go away in about 2-3 wks and if not she'd give me a refund for the shot and Lacy would have to get it surgically removed! Has anyone else's baby had these before? |
