| Worms Questions again..... Sadie has tapeworms and was given some meds two nights ago to get rid of them. The first night she was put in her crate to sleep and kept having to go outside to poop. We finally put her in our kitchen with a pee pad about 1am after an hour of not sleeping and she barked all night and had three VERY runny accidents on the pads with the worm remnants in them. Last night she made it most of the night and the got out of our bed with us and had an accident on the floor of our carpeted bedroom (YUCKY) and went back to bed again. Today she had TWO accidents on our kitchen floor, one while i was gone and one while i was watching her and on my way to go let her out after a nap. They are more solid today, still full of the little rice looking worms and still runnier, but not watery anymore. My question is, how long should this purge last before her stools are back to normal and i can breathe easy about my rented house floors!?!? any advice and experience with worms please help!! |

Are you using a flea preventative on Sadie? Fleas are the culprit in tapeworms. If she's got fleas, she can get reinfected. What did your vet give you to treat the tapeworms? One treatment should take care of it. | |

| Is this a pill you got from your vet? Regular over the counter wormers don't work on tapeworms. An injection is often given for tapeworms. Two days of diarrhea doesn't sound normal for tapeworm treatments. I'd follow up with your vet. |

| My Jezzy got the injection a little over a week ago, and she did not get diarrhea from it. The stools were softer than nomal, but went back to normal after about a day.
