| Halo Dog Food reviews? In my ongoing quest for the perfect dog food, I'm thinking of trying Halo chicken stew....listed ingredients seem impressive and there are no complaints against this company on the consumeraffairs website....28% protein which should be ok for our guys, right? anyone used it, any comments? |

| Halo looks pretty decent, but the only thing that would make me weary would be that Chicken is the 1st ingredient but once the water is removed, it falls farther down the list for ingredients. That means that essentially chicken is not the main ingredient. When you see a "meal" form of meat, that means the water has already been removed and it remains there in the ingredient list. Some of my favorite kibbles include: Innova Orijen Acana Good luck!! Here's the info on Halo Chicken-Spot's StewOur Ingredients: Chicken, Eggs, Pea Protein, Oats, Vegetable Broth, Pearled Barley, Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), Whole Peas, Chicken Liver, Salmon, Flax Seed, Salmon Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Pea Fiber, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, Blueberries, Green Beans, Carrots, Cranberries, Zucchini, Alfalfa, Inulin, Calcium Sulfate, Potassium Chloride, Taurine, Salt, Vitamins (Folic Acid, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Choline Bitartrate, Niacin, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Ascorbic Acid, Riboflavin Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Biotin), Minerals (Zinc Proteinate, Iron Proteinate, Cobalt Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus plantarum. Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein 28.0% (Min), Crude Fat 16.0% (Min), Crude Fiber 6.5% (Max), Moisture 10.0% (Max), Omega 6 Fatty Acids* 3.0% (Min), Omega 3 Fatty Acids* 0.48% (Min), Taurine* 0.1% (Min) *Not recognized as an essential nutrient by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles Hugs- Snick & Viv

| I feed Jack the Halo Spot's Stew - both kibble and moist. He loves it (so does our one cat - lol). On one of the comparison websites, the Halo brand foods scored 4 out of 6 stars - so not too bad.

| Thanks for everyone's response...Viviansnickers, I was feeding Sushi Acana Pacifica but he never really liked it and I think it may have been too rich for him as he started to get loose stools. I love the ingredients on Acana and I tried Pacifica and Grasslands. His breeder had him on Natural Balance Venison & sweet potato but he didn't seem to ejoy that either and I've read some bad reports on consumer affairs about Natural Balance and Diamond Dod food manufacturer. He finished 2 bowls of Halo yesterday which was a first for him, so I think he likes it.....ugh, I hope the search ends soon....why is it so hard to find a good quality kibble with no consumer complaints and highly palatable to dogs |

| Hi Sushi.... Oh, the onoing kibble battle, it is not fun, I know. That stinks that Acana gave your Sushi the runnies. No fun!! Maybe try the Wild Prairie type which is chicken based? The runny stoll could be from thr richness or from the protein source. Wild Prairie is chicken based Acana. Snick LOVES his Grasslands right now, I've actually NEVER seen him eat kibble like this before. Good luck with the Halo babe, hope it all works out!! Do you mind me asking what website your referring to when you say you saw reports on consumer affairs? Is it a website or are you a member of it? In my opinion, Natural Balance does not have enough meat in it, and it is produced at the diamond plant which is iffy. There seems to be very few "non-controversial" kibbles. So sad!!! Holiday Hugs- Snick & Viv

Thor's Human Donating Member | Thor does very well on Halo kibble. He refused to eat any of the other standard 6* brands, so it's Halo for us. I also think it's nice for small dogs because the kibbles themselves are small. I have heard about the lower meat quality, but I generally give Thor dried chicken/duck/lamb as treats, so I think overall he's getting a lot of meat. He seems pretty happy with the arrangement. |

I give Acana wild prairie a big thumbs up too.. Vivansnickers has helped me a ton in trying to find the right food for my pets and they have taken to Acana really well. I have them compeletly switched over already because they were picking the pieces out around the other food I had them on. They have nice small poops and a really good energy level. Im sorry that it gave your pup the runs maybe you could try the other varities?? Good luck, I know first hand how hard it can be..

| Hi Viv, Below is the website....it lists all dog food manufactures that have had complaints..even the so called "premium" ones....of course our fav Acana isn't on there...but Sushi isn't crazy about it, I'm not crazy about his poop clean up and he poops constantly (6 or more times a day! ) Thanks for your feedback again...my breeder told me that our guys do better on lower protein content but that in itself is a whole subject of debate.. Consumer complaints about Kirkland Pet Foods |

| glad to hear this!!! Sushi works on his bully sticks and beef tendons most of the day, so I'm not worried about low protein. Also, I've ready that the smaller breeds do better on lower protein....I started Halo last night and I got nice solid stools already, without transitioning....who would've thought one could be so poop obsessed!!! LOL |
