| Interceptor doses I've been giving my Lola the 2-10 lb.Interceptor Tabs every month. She now probably weighs 11 or 12 lbs. Should I go up to the next dose size which is 11-25 lbs or stay with the lesser dosage? |

| I would ask your vet- i would be tempted to stay at 2-10, especially if her weight fluctuates, but i'd ask your vet. |

| If she stays on Interceptor (11-25 pounds) year round and something goes wrong (she gets heartworms anyway), then Novartis may pay for treatment. I think Merial does with Heartgard, not sure with Novartis. Anyway, that's one good reason to make sure you are giving the right dose. On the other hand, the safeheart dose (dose needed to prevent heartworms) is said to be 1/5 of what it is Interceptor. However, 1/5 of the dose would not control intestinal parasites. So that's why I would be tempted to stay with the smaller dose, but I'd probably go up one to avoid the debate with the vet, etc. And some vets probably don't even know what the safeheart dose is or care to look into it...
