What "People Food" do you feed your Yorkies?

I have a Yorkie, Maltese, and an English Cocker Spaniel and none of them eat 'people' food. If they get sick that is different, then I usually cook up a chicken breast and make some rice for them. But for treats and normal everyday food, they have dog food and dog treats.

I homecook for Missy so I don't really give her treats. I figure that's a treat in itself. When I was potty training her though, I used 100% dehydrated fish.

Mine get only dog food, except for when hubby gives them some bits of sugar free popsicles, which he knows that I don't like. We had 3 other dogs before these 2 and they were given all kinds of people food, table scraps, junk food, etc. and they all weight more than they were supose to weigh. So this time I want them to be as healthy as possible and no begging when we eat our foods.

My boy gets all sorts of fruits and vegetables like apples, oranges, bananas, green beans, broccoli, and carrots. We also give him plain grilled chicken or beef along with cottage cheese, yogurt, and cheese. And I can’t forget scrambled eggs.

The above quote is something that I have heard before too. I don't feed my dog regular store bought pet food either. I feel a lot more comfortable knowing what and how the dog kibble I buy for her is prepared.

apples and baby carrots, and that's completely it for the most part. Every once in a while (like, once every couple months or so), they'll get a little piece of chicken or beef - like A bite. Joey's tummy is quite sensitive, and Tank just doesn't need people food, so we limit it. I swear begging is just something dogs do - I don't feed off my plate or anything (in fact, my boys NEVER touch a dish or utensil being used by humans - they know it's a big no-no), yet they still know to stand there and look cute in hopes of a treat...spoiled little brats...

Sometimes I'll add lamb baby food as a "gravy" to Rio's kibble. She loves it.

This is why I even homecook for my cat (and I'm not a fan of cats, she's my daughters). After doing my research when I got Missy, there is no way that I can feed dog/cat food to our pets. I'll take the time to prepare it myself, adding the proper supplements of course. My 2nd choice to homecooking would be raw.

I wish I knew this sooner! I fed my puppies grapes before, they were fine though. However, I found out I wasn't suppose to so they eat celery and pineapple instead. Fortunately, nothing happened to them and I didn't give too much. *Whew*

Why are grapes bad for them? It's probably bad, I had the mentality that if it's natural and we eat it, then they can as well. I will def be more cautious in the future

Soph gets a lot of the same things we eat. Tiny bites of steak and chicken (minus skin). She loves when I make veggie beef stew because she knows that she gets all of the carrots. And she LOOOOVES spaghetti

You are such a good mommy!! I am sure they appreciate it alot!! props to you!! What do you make for her? How do you make it? I've never tried it, I'm quite intrigued though...

Thanks, I do my best

I use recipes that were provided by my vet. An example of one of the recipes would be (just off the top of my head) poultry, rice, canned sardines, oil, salt substitute, salt, bonemeal powder, and vitamin/mineral powder. I just make up big batches, and freeze it in portions. I find it so easy, and inexpensive as well. My girls eat such a small amount, it's really no big deal.
