YT 2000 Club Member | kibble feeders... Can you please tell me what brands you are feeding your pets and whether or not your dogs have runny eyes and if you have to use something to clear it up (angel eyes, ACV, etc) Im asking because my 2 little dogs have had massive runny eyes recently. (within the month) and Im relating it to thier food. They have had minor eye drainage on and off but now its really bad. My toy poodle gets runny eyes from any dog food product that has corn in it, so we obviously dont feed her anything with corn. I had them on Merricks, (they LOVED this food and Im very sad that they cant have it anymore) thats when their eyes were staining bad, along with red staining on thier feet, faces, and around the pooper. (even though they didnt poop a "red" colored poo ). Currently I have them switched to evangers pheasant and brown rice dry foods, (not their canned) and IM using angel eyes and when they will eat it yogurt to hopefully clear up the problem some. It doesnt seem to be helping much, but Ive only made the food switch 2ish weeks ago (along with adding the yogurt and angel eyes) and I know that it may take longer than that to get the old food out of their systems., but I need other food options just in case the Evangers doesnt help with the problem or they stop eating it (they have a history of this ) My dogs dont tolerate a "super high" protien diet and Im not willing to feed anything at this time made by diamond foods (because of the fish preservative they use). Thanks to everyone who took the time to post..

| My two are currently on Orijen, but I am switching to Fromms Surf and Turf next week. The store I usually buy from is out of the Orijen and the Acana (which is what I was going to switch them to). Fromms Surf and Turf is grain free but not too high in protien. I am looking forward to trying it. The staining may go away after a few weeks on the new food. Something else you can try is Apple Cider Vinegar. It does wonders for allergy prone dogs. Good luck!!!

| Snickers is on Acana and his drainage has been less (not gone all the way). I also switched his raw to Primal from NV so that may have something to do with it as well. He has only been Acana for about 2-3 weeks now and when I made the switch I put out Fromm's Surf and Turf as well for a few days and he would not touch it. Snick has never been a fan of full fish kibbles, this includes Orijen 6 fish--again would not touch it. Good luck--eye boogeys are so NOT fun.... Snick & Viv

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey had no problem with eye drainage and we were using Royal Canin for Yorkshire terriers, I switched to Blue Wilderness because I heard some good things about it, and he experienced massive eye drainage within three days of trying the new food, I took him off the food after a week, and the eyes improved dramatically within 24 hours, but it took two weeks before all signs of drainage were gone. After his eyes had been clear for a while I tried the Blue Wilderness again, and got the same result, so he's back on RC and his eyes look good again. I don't know what ingredient caused it, but I think if there is an abundant drainage problem after switching foods, you should find another food.

Thanks, and I have. I took them off the Merricks about 2 weeks ago. I have them on Evangers Pheasant and brown rice, along with a daily dose of angel eyes and yogurt when they will eat it.. I havent seen a huge improvement yet, thats why I was posted. We have tried so many dog foods already, I really wish I could find the right food for them...

I have no idea what your referring to! As far as I know NB Organic is all natural and free from any preservative and I thought the whole line was also. | |

That's one reason why I like Nature's Variety. They have a special contract with their supplier that does not allow them to use ethoxyqyin, and because of the location of NV's processing plant, they guarantee their products do not contain etho. I can't remember exactly what their reply to my e-mail said but you can contact them and get their response.
