| HELP! my yorkie puppy loves to eat POOP! Hi everyone! My yorkie puppy Cooper is 14 weeks old and I've noticed for the past 2 weeks now, he's been eating his feces when I'm not around. How do I know this?----there are small pieces of it on the ground by his pee-pee pad or on the floor next to the pee-pee pad. I actually have this bitter spray that I bought from Petsmart and sprayed that on and left it there right now so we'll see what happens...but goodness! It's getting very frusterating. I took him to the vet a couple of weeks ago and he's very healthy so there aren't any signs of parasites or any crazy cooties that may cause him to eat it. (Yes, I've been googling for answers. LOL!) I always, always, ALWAYS pick up his poop when he's done with his business so that he doesn't get a chance to eat it or sniff it...but when he does try and sniff it, I tell him "NO" or do the cesar milan "SHHHH" noise and he freaks out and backs off. I do go to school and work but have people around to check on him....but still---what can I do to stop him from eating his feces when I'm not home? |

| Hi when I had my pup he did that too. I was told here that it is normal . If you give him pineapple he will stop but you have to keep giving it to him or he will start doing it again. hope it works for you |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | yes, is normal, when he was with mom and his brothers and sisters, mom did all the diapering, that includes that she eats their poop to keep the whelping and nursery area clean, so is a puppy learned behavior, long time ago a very experience breeder told me to put a sprinkle of the seasoning called "accent" in their food for a few days and that should make him stop. it will not hurt him but will give his poop a nasty taste. hope this helps and welcome to YT.. hugs, carmen in nj |

| My 3 year old yorkie eats poop, cat throw up, cat poop - he even eats his brothers poop as it's coming out (I am sorry, but there was no other way to say it). What do I do????! Pinapple? I'd like that better than chemicals I've heard about. Has anyone tried pinapple or have a different idea for me? Thanks! |

| Well I hate to say it but you may have to wait it out until he grows out of it. I've tried the pinapple and know others who have and it had no effect what so ever. I even tried the forbit and nasty habit pills that you give them. Some will just keep on doing it for a while. you can give it a shot with the recommendations out there but know that it may be a way befoie he stops doing it, if he ever stops....I really hope mine stops soon I do have to say that as mine has gotten older it has become a less frequent occurence. thank goodness! it was pretty bad around 14 weeks but now around 21 she seems to be getting less and less interested.
