| Little bit of bleeding gums when brushing teeth Anyone else have this happen? I use the long brush with a big brush on one side and a small one on the other side. Is it her gums are not healthy or are the bristles too hard? I am using petzlife in addition to the brushing. I admit I have been lax the last few weeks in brushing, but still using the petzlife regularly. I have seen improvement, esp on her left side where she had retained a baby "fang" and she gets tartar inbetween there. i floss between those teeth also. Should I get a softer brush? She seems to love this kind. See on her left side where she has the tartar. Before I started on petzlife it was nearly black! Ok exaggerating, but it was bad. The rest of her teeth are pretty good I think, but we can do better! She was not happy with me after these pics.

| Hey girl!!! I think it's b/c you've been lax about the brushing. It's kind of like us and flossing...if I don't floss regularly, when I do--they bleed. -Snick & Viv

| Wait on pic #2 is that a retained baby canine?? Looks like she has 2, maybe I'm looking at it wrong...if it is a retained tooth, it will gather and create tarter until it's pulled. Snick just got his baby tooth pulled during his LP surgery and no more tarter at all, his retained tooth was the ONLY one that had tarter on it (so annoying!)...now-sparkling white and no more bad morning breath or bloody gums while brushing!!! -Vivian

| Yup, a retained baby fang as I called it above LOL. That was the only one that didn't fall out. When I get her spayed it will come out, but money's way too tight right now, maybe after the new year. They are perfectly straight too, it's the funniest thing. I don't know why I don't brush everyday, she loves it. I've just been a lazy mommy

Does Uni have NASTY morning breathe....for awhile I couldn't let Snick come give me morning kisses...ugh...was sick!! And everytime I brushed...blood. -Smiles -Snick & Viv

| I guess she loves the paste I use or the texture of the bristles. She chews on them and I wiggle the brush as she chews. I tried prying open her mouth before and that was a losing battle. Now I make it a game. i take out the paste and tease her with it and make her try to bite the brush but I take it away so she misses it. It gets her intrigued LOL. thing is, she likes to chew in her back teeth, so I have to watch and be a bit more careful and focus on the double fang. Her breath is not sweet, but it doesn't make me want to pass out either. I know there is improvement to be made.

So you are liking the Petzlife? What kind did you get? Bailey's gums bled a few times too, and I've been using a double ended toothbrush too..I was thinking the bristles are way to hard for him. You are soooo lucky Uni likes having her teeth brushed "sigh"

| I got the spray on recommendation from Nancy. It's fast, just a quick squirt on each side, then she gives me a dirty look, and then proceeds to rub her face in the blanket. Well Uni didn't always like brushing. Like I mentioned before, when i tried to pry her mouth open to do it, she would fight me and it was like iron clad tight. those little buggers are so strong! So I make it a game, dance around her with it, make her chase me, and eventually when she saw me get out the brush and paste, she gets so excited like she can't wait. i guess I am really lazy then LOL. She loves it and I still don't do it. I'm gonna try to do it everyday now. I brush her coat and do eye booger detail several times a day, brushing is not that hard.

| This made me bust up! How do you fight the head turning? I have a hard time brushing out the mustache. I was thinking burrito style.

| Roxy is the same way... I have to do gymnastics to get her to let me brush her teeth, and when I get to, she jerks her head back and once again I am back to basics and she wont let me. I have tried different brushes, different flavors, nothing ever works... she doesnt like anything or even having her mouth messed with, she jerks and tries to get away. I usually get the groomer to brush her teeth too. I am seriously considering this "burrito style". Roxy's teeth bleed almost every single time I brush them. I dont think she lets me in long enough to get them. I try for about 40 minutes, and probably only get a mild 2 minute brushing in all together. I usually do it when I give her a bath, which usually ends up in me getting a bath as well.
