| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We have had several people post about their dogs being severely injured because their dewclaws were caught on something like a knit blanket. While it's not necessary to remove them, it does seem like a preventative precaution, and much safer than having them ripped off. I would discuss this with my vet, and remember that if you decide to keep them to tell your groomer about this as the nail does require clipping, and keeping it clipped might help prevent future injury. I agree with others about the teeth, some vets don't know that Yorkies don't lose baby teeth naturally, and a double row of teeth can cause future problems.
