I have been using Royal Canine for Yorkshire Terriers now, for about a year or close to it. I have been thru numerous of other types of dog foods, but he does prefer this one tho he is finikey (sp) at times. Here it is almost $18 for a small bag, which is 3-4 lbs, not sure. This brand is for dogs that are picky eaters, and I sure do have one. I really think if you can get your dog to eat a particular brand, your doing good. He/she may not prefer the brand you choose and eventually you will have to change. Happened to me, at least. Good Luck. |
I am in Canada and it is hard to find a dog food without corn or chicken meal it seems. I am feeding my guys Performatrin which is from Pet Valu. It has no corn in it but does have chicken meal. I am wondering what food is best for the coat and skin. |

Coral is eating RC now, but we are in the process of switching her to Nature's variety prairie. She loves the RC, but i have noticed her itching a lot since she has been eating it, so we are making a switch. I hope she eats as well on the NV prairie! |
Our yorkie puppy was started on RC by the breeder and I continued with it and our Vet likes it. (But she also sells prescription RC and prescription Hills). But I never thought it had the best quality Ingredients. So I first tried mixing in Blue Buffalo puppy food but she didn’t like it at all. I also had some grain free puppy food that she didn’t like and then I read that puppies need some grain in their food. So just got some Wellness complete small breed puppy food to try. (I fed our last Yorkie Wellness and Innova and she liked them both). Our new puppy actually pushed the RC to the back of her dish and ate the Wellness only. However it sounds like it is very hard as it crunches loudly as she is eating it. But I am sure that is ok. I will donate the other foods to a local no kill shelter |

I have continued to feed the RC puppy and Wellness complete puppy. But now at 4 months old she has decided she doesn’t always want the Wellness, just the RC. 🤦*♀️. I have an unopened bag of Wellness. But will continue to feed the RC. I like the ingredients in the Wellness complete but I do believe both provide necessary nutrition. Her weight is fine but she is going to be one of those large sized yorkies. Weighs 6 pounds at four months. But is extremely tall, has the longest legs of any yorkie I have ever seen. But we love her anyway. I think she has something else in her gene pool. 😊 |
Nothing wrong with a bigger yorkie. All mine have been 13 lbs, the biggest was 17 lbs, smallest was 9 lbs, my rescue is 12lbs. A wee lil 5 lb or under would scare me to death lol. |
